A brush (1) intended for industrial use comprises one or more bristle bunches formed by a plurality of elongated bristles, one or more cassette elements having said bristle bunches, and a cassette element holding member (3) at which said cassette elements may be removably secured. At least one of said cassette elements comprises a body, one or more recesses configured to receive said bristle bunches therein, and a securing wire configured to secure said bristle bunches in said recesses. Said at least one cassette element further comprises means configured to counteract movement of the bristles of a bristle bunch with respect to each other and/or with respect to the securing wire.

A strip brush assembly with a plurality of elongated polymer bristles forming a section and a plurality of elongated metal bristles forming another section adjacent the polymer bristles section, such that the metal bristles section is supported by the polymer bristles section. The polymer and metal bristles are bonded and encapsulated in a base formed by direct extrusion onto and around the polymer and metal bristles to secure them to the formed base. A cleaning machine may include: a first brush comprising a first brush shaft extending in a left-right direction and a first brush body held by the first brush shaft; a second brush comprising a second brush shaft extending in the left-right direction and a second brush body held on the second brush shaft; a brush supporting member supporting each of the first brush and the second brush such that the first brush and the second brush are rotatable; a body supporting the brush supporting member such that the brush supporting member is pivotable; and a pivot mechanism configured to pivot the brush supporting member with respect to the body. A method of removing debris from an area of turf grass can include providing a grass treatment system including a comb having a leading edge comprising a plurality of comb teeth, wherein the comb is mounted transversely to a direction of travel, and a substantially cylindrical brush positioned above the comb and configured to engage at least a portion of a top surface of the comb, wherein the brush rotates relative to the comb. The method can include positioning the grass treatment system closely adjacent to the turf grass such that the comb engages debris on and around the turf grass surface, and moving the grass treatment so that (i) the comb engages the debris, (ii) the rotating brush removes at least a portion of the debris from the surface of the comb, and (iii) the rotating brush does not come into contact with the turf grass.

A roadway sweeper (10) is provided with a pneumatic ‘lift’ cylinder (LC) connected through linkages to a gutter broom (12) and is pressurized at a operator-selected one of a plurality of air pressures to control the force the gutter broom (12) applies to the surface being swept. In a similar manner, a pneumatic ‘swing-out’ cylinder (PC) that is also pressurized at one of a plurality of operator-selected air pressures to cause the gutter broom (12) to ‘swing-out’ from a fully retracted position toward its fully extended position. A spring element (S), such as one or more helical springs, is connected in parallel with the swing-out cylinder (PC) so that the gutter broom (12) is positioned reliably and repeatedly in response to a user-selected one of many pressure states P.sub.n.
