A ridge vent for ventilating a roof of a building via a hole along a roof ridge to atmosphere, the ridge vent comprising a first ridge vent panel: a flange portion for resting on the roof, the flange portion having an opening for overlapping with the hole, the flange portion having a first flange portion positioned to one side of the opening and a second flange portion positioned to another side of the opening, such that the first flange portion and the second flange portion are at an acute angle with respect to one another; a frame portion coupled to the flange portion and having sides extending upwardly from the flange portion about the opening, the frame portion for maintaining a cap portion in a spaced apart relationship with the flange portion; the cap portion connected to the frame portion and covering over the opening; a first corrugated filter plate extending between the cap portion and the flange portion and positioned transversely between the opening and the atmosphere, the first corrugated filter plate positioned to said one side of the opening; and a second corrugated filter plate extending between the cap and the flange portion and positioned transversely between the opening and the atmosphere, the second corrugated filter plate positioned to said another side of the opening; wherein the corrugated filter plates providing for a passage of air between the atmosphere and the opening, the corrugated filter plates having a pore size sufficient for facilitating the air passage of air through the corrugated filter plates while blocking passage of atmospheric particles through the corrugated filter plates.

Multi-layered ventilation apparatus and methods of manufacturing thereof

Disclosed is an apparatus for venting buildings, specifically attic spaces, such vents being predominantly shape-conform to the components from which a wall or a roof is built (typically tiles, in the context of roofs), the vent typically being fabricated from a metallic, plastic, or ceramic core as well as one or more layers from other materials or compounds which modify the overall characteristics of the vent, such as the surface characteristics. Furthermore disclosed are methods of manufacturing such ventilation apparatuses.

Perforated eave trim and roof ventilation system
11473310 · 2022-10-18 ·

A perforated eave trim and system for roofs is described. New shingles are typically installed on wooden strapping attached to an old or existing roof. The cavity between the old roof and the shingles is prone to build up of moisture if the cavity is inadequately ventilated. Moisture build up can lead to mold, ice buildup and damage to the roof and strapping. The perforated eave trim, and embodiments thereof disclosed herein, in conjunction with conventional roof vents provides an improved system for venting roofs.

Roof vent with secure attachment mechanisms

Vents are disclosed for covering openings on roofs. The disclosed vents cover openings on metal roofs and prevent moisture and objects from entering the opening while allowing air to pass therethrough. The vents disclosed herein also prevent moisture from entering the building through openings that can be created when the vents are attached to a roof. The vents include a cap, a collar, and a flashing configured to contact the roof. The vents can also include a screen placed between the cap and the collar. The collar can have arms formed on an upper portion thereof to facilitate connection of the collar to the cap. Feet can be formed on a bottom portion of the collar. Once the vent is fully assembled, the feet can be positioned underneath the flashing and can be the main connection point of the vent to a roof. Due to the design of this assembly, fasteners pass through the feet providing a sound and secure attachment to the roof. The feet are then covered from moisture, rain, and/or snow by a flashing, and the flashing is then secured by screws or other fasteners passing through the reinforcement material and through the flashing itself which provides a weatherproof seal.

VALVED COVER FOR PERFORATED-STRIP SOFFIT VENTS
20170226744 · 2017-08-10 ·

A valved cover is described for controlling air flow through perforated-strip-type soffit vents surrounding houses. The narrow, continuous vents are completely enclosed except for valved portholes in the cover, the flap valves being stiffly hinged to stay open (and quiet) in most weather to allow two-way ventilating air flow between outdoors and attic/roof space. The valved covers “harness” very strong winds: those on the the windward have their valves blown closed, blocking potentially destructive wind/rain entry into the attic/roof space, while those facing lee sides remain open so that the attic/roofspace is connected only to the wind-depressurized lee-side air and is therefore itself depressurized, helping hold the roof envelope together. The valved covers can be factory-mounted on the soffit panels and flat-folded for compact shipping and handling.

Off-ridge roof ventilation device
11739532 · 2023-08-29 · ·

An off-ridge roof ventilation device for placing on an opening of a roof deck. The ventilation device comprises an elongated main hood with a curved shape. The right end of the main hood is closed by a right-side panel, and the left end of the main hood is closed by a left-side panel. The main hood comprises a perforated top face and a venting opening on a bottom face. A throat panel is placed on the bottom face of the main hood in a manner to reduce the venting opening. A perforated interior panel is placed between the top face of the main hood and the throat panel to eliminate wind driven rain and/or snow even in high wind situations. The perforations are preferably designed as mini-louvers, wherein the mini-louvers of the main hood and the mini-louvers of the throat panel comprise the same shape and count the same number.

Self ventilating roof system
11214966 · 2022-01-04 ·

A self-ventilating roofing system that comprises a rigid deck that is connected to the roof support system and has a lower horizontal opening parallel to the eave, on both slopes, and above the attic space. There is also an upper opening on either side of the ridge. A radiant barrier comprising of a reflective layer applied over the roof deck. A slice is made in the radiant barrier over the lower and upper opening of the deck to allow air to enter the lower opening and exit the upper opening. An insulated panel with vertical grooves is installed over the radiant barrier with the groove side face down. This insulated panel is made of a type of insulated material. A metal drip edge is then installed along the eave. This drip edge should be installed with an air gap between the facia and the drip edge sufficiently wide enough to allow air to enter. A vented ridge vent is then installed at the ridge to allow for the weather proof exit of the air. When a metal roof is being installed then the metal panels can be attached on top of the insulated panel. When an asphalt shingle or wood shake roof is being installed then a nailable panel must be installed over the insulated panel. The insulated panel can be made of rigid insulated pane or a flexible insulated panel with the ability to be rolled up for ease of installation.
