The two lift bolts may be configured to respectively raise the two end portions of the horizontal flange. The apparatus may include two rotatable lift nuts that, when rotated, raise the lift bolts to engage and raise the two ends of the horizontal flange.

A calibration system includes a calibration rig having a plurality of vertical calibration legs assembled with a plurality of horizontal calibration legs and a laser that emits one or more beams of light onto a work surface to position the architectural layout relative to the calibration rig on the work surface. Calibration markers are positioned at intersections of the vertical and horizontal calibration legs for the laser to scan and confirm calibration accuracy of each of the calibration markers. The calibration markers calibrate the laser by using fixed, known points on the calibration grid that can be folded, collapsed, disassembled, and/or rolled for easy transport to other locations. The work surface can include obstacles and/or be uneven.

When the assembly components are aligned into the predetermined configuration, their openings align to define a cavity for receiving a stepped dowel to fasten the components together. The guiding apparatus includes a stepped dowel member having successively-smaller dowel sections, and a collar member floating around the base of the stepped dowel member. The stepped dowel member tip can be passed through the first assembly component opening and inserted into the second assembly component opening, drawing the components into the predetermined configuration. When the components are aligned into the predetermined configuration, the collar member engages the first assembly component opening and the stepped dowel member engages the second assembly component opening. The guiding apparatus can be disengaged, freeing the dowel-receiving cavity to accept a stepped dowel for fastening the assembly components together.

DEVICE FOR ALIGNING BUILDING BLOCKS AND METHOD

The invention relates to a device for aligning building blocks, comprising a connecting element and a base plate which is connected to one end of the connecting element, wherein the base plate extends from two opposite sides of the connecting element in a perpendicular manner or in an angle slightly less than perpendicular. The device further comprises a wedge receiving plate which is connected to the other end of the connecting element, is substantially in line with the connecting element and comprises an opening designed for receiving a wedge. The base plate and the wedge receiving plate are each connected to the connecting element via a frangible joint. Upon application of the device, the base plate, the wedge receiving plate and the wedge together squeeze the building blocks together so that they become aligned. As a last step, the base plate and the wedge receiving plate are broken off from the connecting element to leave the connecting element between the building blocks.
