A valve assembly that can be employed in a variable camshaft timing (VCT) phaser assembly. The valve assembly includes a metal sleeve and a check valve. The check valve, in an implementation, has an integral construction with the metal sleeve. The integral construction has multiple designs, one of which includes an overmolded construction of the check valve with the metal sleeve. The valve assembly can also include a valve housing which, in the implementation of the VCT phaser assembly, is a center bolt.

A control screw for a camshaft phase shifter of an internal combustion engine extends along a longitudinal axis. The control screw includes a screw body. The control screw also includes a tubular spool assembly having a control valve assembly with at least three rigid rings and at least two valves. Each valve includes at least one vane connected to two flexible arms. The valve is connected to two consecutive rigid rings.

Variable valve timing apparatus
A control device has two modes as control modes of an electric power supply to an electromagnetic solenoid, which are used when a first determining unit determines that a difference between a sensed value of a phase and a target value of the phase exceeds a permissible range. One of the modes is a special mode that is used when a second determining unit determines that the sensed value of the phase reaches a threshold value. Another one of the modes is a normal mode that is used when the second determining unit determines that the sensed value of the phase does not reach the threshold value. In the special mode, the control device controls supply of the electric power to the electromagnetic solenoid in such a manner that an opening degree of an advancing port is larger than the opening degree of the advancing port in the normal mode.
Control system of hydraulic pressure control valve
A control system includes a hydraulic pressure control valve and an electronic control unit. The hydraulic pressure control valve includes a spool configured to be moved inside a sleeve. The hydraulic pressure control valve is configured to control a hydraulic pressure by moving the spool between a first end and a second end of the sleeve. The hydraulic pressure control valve includes a stopper configured to transmit vibration to the sleeve. The electronic control unit is configured to control the spool to vibrate in the first end or the second end when foreign matter is stuck in the hydraulic pressure control valve, such that the spool or a member that moves the spool repeatedly hits the stopper.
VARIABLE VALVE TIMING APPARATUS

The control device for the hydraulic control valve includes: a drive control unit that controls driving of the spool valve; and a determination unit that determines whether or not clogging of a foreign matter exists between a sleeve and the spool valve, and determines a position of the clogging of the foreign matter in a case where the foreign matter exists between a sleeve and the spool valve, and determines a position of the clogging of a foreign matter in a case where the clogging of a foreign matter exists.
