COMPRESSOR CONTROL SYSTEM AND METHOD
A compressor control system includes: a compressor; an inlet guide vane (IGV) arranged at an inlet of the compressor, and configured to adjust opening of the inlet based on a supplementary surge control signal or a performance control signal; an anti-surge valve (ASV) connected to an outlet of the compressor, and configured to prevent a surge based on a surge control signal; and a controller configured to generate the surge control signal for controlling the ASV when an operating point enters a surge control range, generate the supplementary surge control signal for controlling the IGV in an anti-surge mode when the operating point enters a supplementary surge control range set between the surge control range and a surge range, and generate the performance control signal for controlling the IGV in a performance mode until the operating point enters the surge control range.
AERO-ACOUSTICALLY DAMPENED BLEED VALVE
Aero-acoustically damped bleed valves are disclosed. An example variable bleed valve apparatus comprises a variable bleed valve door to actuate the variable bleed valve apparatus, and a variable bleed valve port including an upstream edge and a downstream edge, the VBV port to define a secondary flowpath, the VBV door to cover the VBV port in a closed position, and a vortex device at the upstream edge of the variable bleed valve port, the vortex device including a vorticity generating feature along the upstream edge of the variable bleed valve port.
Spring loaded sleeve valve with controlled closing force
A sleeve valve includes an inlet port and an outlet port. A sleeve is movable to close flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. The sleeve valve has a sleeve biased to an open position at which it allows flow from the inlet port to the outlet port by a spring. Pressure in a pressure chamber urges the sleeve to a closed position at which it blocks flow from the inlet port to the outlet port. A line pressure conduit communicates the fluid chamber into the pressure chamber. Pressurized air is supplied to the pressure chamber through a selectively closed valve. The selectively closed valve is opened to allow the flow of high pressure air from a pressure source into the pressure chamber to move the sleeve to a closed position. A bleed air system for a gas turbine engine is also disclosed.
MULTISTAGE CENTRIFUGAL PUMP
A multistage centrifugal pump for conveying a fluid includes a pump housing with an inlet to receive the fluid and an outlet to discharge the fluid, a first stage impeller and a last stage impeller to convey the fluid from the inlet to the outlet, a shaft to rotate the first stage impeller and the last stage impeller about an axial direction, a suction chamber arranged upstream of the first stage impeller and in fluid communication with the inlet, a recirculation path for the fluid including a return opening and extending from the return opening to the suction chamber, the return opening located at or in the flow path downstream of the first stage impeller and upstream of the last stage impeller, and a flow control rod disposed in the recirculation path, the flow control rod to adjust a recirculation flow through the recirculation path into the suction chamber.
BLEED VALVE ASSEMBLIES
Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture are disclosed for a variable bleed valve assembly. An example variable bleed valve assembly includes a variable bleed valve (VBV) door corresponding to a bleed port, an intermediary device operatively coupled to the VBV door, and a first actuator operatively coupled to the intermediary device, the first actuator to move between a first position and a second position, the first actuator to cause the intermediary device to move between the first position and the second position to cause the VBV door to move between the first position and the second position.
Pressure regulator and bleed air system for aircraft engine
Pressure regulators together with associated methods and systems are provided. An embodiment of a pressure regulator includes a chamber having an inlet port for receiving a fluid and an outlet port for delivering the fluid at a regulated pressure. The pressure regulator includes a diaphragm defining at least part of the chamber, and the diaphragm defining a first orifice therethrough. The pressure regulator includes a spring configured to interact with the diaphragm. The pressure regulator includes an interface operatively disposed between the spring and the diaphragm. The interface includes a contact surface for contacting the diaphragm, and the contact surface is convex toward the diaphragm. The interface defines a second orifice therethrough that is in fluid communication with the first orifice in the diaphragm. The first and second orifices define a relief port for venting the chamber to an ambient environment external to the chamber.
Centrifugal compressor and method of operating the same
A centrifugal compressor and a method of operating a centrifugal compressor. The centrifugal compressor includes: an impeller configured to suction a gas to be compressed; a diffuser disposed downstream of the impeller to pressurize the gas, the diffuser comprising a movable ring, a main passage in which the gas flows past the ring, and an openable branch passage; and a circulation loop comprising an inlet and an outlet, the outlet being in communication with an inlet of the impeller; the branch passage is disposed to be in communication with the main passage and the circulation loop when the ring moves into the main passage so that a portion of the gas in the main passage passes through the circulation loop and returns to the impeller so as to be suctioned, and to be closed when the ring is withdrawn from the main passage.
INLINE PNEUMATIC VALVE WITH INTERNAL BUSHING
An inline valve includes a sliding piston having a radially outer stop portion with a forward end. A radially inner sliding portion is connected to the radially outer stop portion by an arm. A housing includes an outer housing body surrounding the piston. The housing has a stop surface selectively in contact with the forward end of the radially outer stop portion of the piston to block flow for a housing inlet to a housing outlet. The radially inner sliding portion slides on a support tube. At least a portion of the radially inner sliding portion is formed of a first material having better wear resistance than a second material forming the outer stop portion of the piston. The second material has a greater resistance to high temperature and pressure than the first material. A vent valve for a compressor is also disclosed.
Discharge door control ring for aircraft turbomachine and turbomachine comprising the same
A control ring for controlling discharge gates for an aircraft turbine engine extends around a casing of the turbine engine and includes a connector for connecting to the gates. The control ring includes metal sectors and composite material sectors. The metal sectors may be connected to one another by the composite material sectors and the connector may be carried by the metal sectors.
