Method of manufacturing nickel based super alloy parts

There is provided a method of treating a nickel base super alloy (NiSa) article. First, the NiSa article having fine grains is obtained. The NiSa article has a uniform distribution of the fine grains and substantially uniform mechanical properties throughout. One or more regions within the NiSa article are mechanically deformed. Then, the NiSa article is heat treated to obtain coarse grains in the one or more regions, the coarse grains having a size that is larger than that of the fine grains of the NiSa article outside of the one or more regions.

A stator vane arrangement for a turbomachine comprises a radially inner annular structure, a radially outer annular structure and a plurality of circumferentially spaced vanes extending radially between the inner annular structure and the outer annular structure. At least one of the vanes has a passage extending from the inner annular structure to the outer annular structure. The inner annular structure has at least one radially inwardly extending boss and each boss has a passage extending there-through. The passage in each boss is aligned with a corresponding passage in a vane. Each boss comprises a first portion having a first cross-sectional area and a second portion having a second cross-sectional area which is greater than the first cross-sectional area. The first portion of each boss is positioned between and interconnecting the second portion of the boss and the inner annular structure.

TURBINE BLADE, TURBINE, AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING TURBINE BLADE

A turbine blade disposed along a radial direction of a turbine includes: an airfoil portion positioned in a fluid flow passage of the turbine; and a shroud portion positioned on an inner side or an outer side of the airfoil portion in the radial direction, and having an opening with which an end portion of the airfoil portion is to be engaged. A clearance is formed between a wall surface forming the opening of the shroud portion and an outer peripheral surface of the end portion of the airfoil portion. The wall surface of the shroud portion and the outer peripheral surface of the airfoil portion are joined to each other. At least one of the shroud portion or the airfoil portion has a cooling hole formed thereon, the cooling hole having an opening into the clearance and being configured to supply the clearance with a cooling fluid.

A method of producing a cascade array and a cascade array is provided. The method includes: forming a plurality of strongbacks from a first thermoplastic material; forming a plurality of comb subassemblies, each said comb subassembly including one of the plurality of strongbacks and a plurality of vanes comprising a second thermoplastic material extending outwardly from the respective one of the plurality strongbacks; and attaching the plurality of comb subassemblies into a unitary structure to produce the cascade array.

Laser powder deposition weld rework for gas turbine engine non-fusion weldable nickel castings

A method of reworking an aerospace component includes removing a casting defect from a component manufactured of a non-fusion weldable base alloy to form a cavity. The cavity is then at least partially filled with a multiple of layers of discrete laser powder deposition spots of a filler alloy. A cast component for a gas turbine engine includes a cast component non-fusion weldable base alloy with a cavity filled with a multiple of layers of laser powder deposition spots of a filler alloy. The filler alloy may be different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy. A layer of non-fusion weldable base alloy is at least partially within the cavity and over the filler alloy.

TURBINE BLADE AND METHOD FOR MACHINING SAME

A turbine blade for a gas turbine, having a blade root and an aerodynamically curved blade airfoil arranged above the blade root. The blade airfoil has a pressure-side and a suction-side blade wall, together extending from a leading edge, that can receive a flow of working medium, to a trailing edge. A multiplicity of cooling air outlet openings are formed on the pressure-side blade wall, which extend upstream from the trailing edge with respect to the flow direction, and through these openings cooling air that is conveyed through the interior of the blade airfoil can exit. At least one of the cooling air outlet openings has a substantially rectangular or trapezoidal shape with rounded corners. At least the lower corner, pointing towards the leading edge, of the cooling air outlet opening forms a relief notch, which projects outwardly from the rectangular shape, with a rounded notch bottom.
