The thruster includes a space for receiving the propellant from the propellant channel, an electrically controlled heating element, a thruster body having a first thermal expansion coefficient, a valve component having a second thermal expansion coefficient, which is different than the first thermal expansion coefficient, inside the thruster body, and a nozzle, wherein the valve component includes a sealing surface closing the nozzle in a first temperature, and the electrically controlled heating element in response to actuation of the switch heats said thruster to a second temperature where the thermal expansion of the thruster opens the nozzle.
VARIABLE GAP BETWEEN IMPELLER ROTOR AND STATIC STRUCTURE
An assembly is provided for a turbine engine. This assembly includes a static structure and an impeller rotor housed within the static structure. The impeller rotor includes a vane structure and a shroud. The vane structure includes a first sidewall, a second sidewall and a plurality of vanes arranged circumferentially about a rotational axis. The vanes include a first vane. The first vane includes a first portion, a second portion and a third portion. The first portion is axially between the first sidewall and the second sidewall. The second portion is radially between the first sidewall and the shroud. The third portion is radially between the second sidewall and the shroud. The shroud circumscribes the vane structure. A gap is formed by and extends between the shroud and the static structure. A dimension of the gap changes as the gap extends along the shroud.
GAS TURBINE COMPRESSOR PASSIVE CLEARANCE CONTROL
A gas turbine engine is disclosed having a turbine, one or more hydrocarbon gas combustors, and a compressor. The compressor has a rotor assembly with one or more rotor blade rows extending radially outward from an inner wheel disk. The compressor also has a stator assembly with one or more stator vane rows extending radially inward from an inner casing and positioned between adjacent rotor blade rows. The inner casing extends circumferentially around the rotor assembly and is constructed from at least one low-alpha metal alloy.
CENTRIFUGAL FAN FRAME STRUCTURE
A centrifugal fan frame structure includes a base plate and a plurality of side wall sections. The side wall sections are discontinuously formed along an outer periphery of the base plate through injection molding, such that a clearance is formed between any two adjacent side wall sections, and portions of the outer periphery of the base plate located corresponding to the clearances are not covered by any injection molded side wall section. And, the side wall sections and the base plate together define a receiving space between them. With the injection molded side wall sections being spaced along the outer periphery of the base plate, a wrapping force from the injection molded side wall sections is effectively reduced to prevent the base plate from structural deformation under the wrapping force.
Heat exchanger assembly with a manifold additively manufactured onto a core and method of forming
An apparatus and method of forming a hybrid heat exchanger including a first manifold defining a first fluid inlet and a second manifold defining a second fluid inlet. A monolithic core body includes a first set of flow passages in fluid communication with the first manifold and a second set of flow passages is in communication with the second manifold. At least a portion of the first manifold or the second manifold has a tunable coefficient of thermal expansion that is less than a coefficient of thermal expansion of the structurally rigid monolithic core.
Rotatable forged disc for a bladed rotor wheel and a method for manufacturing thereof
The present invention provides a bladed rotor wheel for a gas turbine engine comprising at least a rotatable forged disc, the rotatable forged disc comprising a front surface and a back surface, at least one rim surface, and a plurality of projections located on at least a portion of at least one of the front or back surface and/or on the rim surface; wherein the projections are 3D printed features protruding outwards from the front, back and/or rim surface; the projections are arranged forming a pattern so that a heat transfer capability is created at the front, back and/or rim surface; and the ratio of the distance between projections to the forged disc external radius is lower than 0.15. Furthermore, the present invention also provides a method for manufacturing a rotatable forged disc for a bladed rotor wheel.
BI-MATERIAL JOINT FOR ENGINE
An engine bi-material joint includes a first flange composed of a first material and defining a first coefficient of thermal expansion, and a second flange composed of a second material and defining a second coefficient of thermal expansion. The second flange is different from the first material. An interface flange is engaged with the first flange and with the second flange. The interface flange defines a third coefficient of thermal expansion being equal to or less than the first coefficient of thermal expansion of the first flange. The third coefficient of thermal expansion is less than the second coefficient of thermal expansion of the second flange. The first coefficient of thermal expansion of the first flange is less than the second coefficient of thermal expansion of the second flange.
Internal structure of a primary exhaust duct having a separator of which the geometry varies depending on the temperature
An internal structure of a primary exhaust duct of a turbomachine, which has a primary wall allowing air to pass through orifices and forming an internal surface of the primary exhaust duct, an interior skin arranged inside the primary wall, and at least one separator of which a first edge region is attached to the interior skin and which has two geometries. A change from the first geometry to the second takes place when the temperature of the separator exceeds a first temperature, and the change from the second to the first takes place when the temperature of the separator drops below a second temperature. The coefficient of expansion of the separator is greater than that of the interior skin. The variation in the geometry of the separators depending on the temperature of the engine eases assembly at ambient temperature due to the compression of the separators.
