The first subsurface layer is formed of a material having a first coefficient of thermal expansion in the radial direction, and the first body is formed of a material having a second coefficient of thermal expansion in the radial direction. The first coefficient of thermal expansion is lower than the second coefficient of thermal expansion.

A split bearing cage for a rolling-element bearing assembly includes a first bearing cage segment and a second bearing cage segment each having two side ring sections axially spaced apart by a plurality of bridges. Adjacent pairs of the bridges define rolling-element receiving pockets for receiving rolling elements of the rolling-element bearing assembly and for holding the rolling elements spaced apart from each other and for guiding the rolling elements. The first bearing cage segment is connected to the second bearing cage segment via a swivel joint that may be formed of a bolt element on a first end of the first bearing cage segment and an at least partial eyelet on the first end of the second bearing cage segment.

Vibration resistant torsionally compliant transmission shaft

A transmission shaft is provided comprising an input side for inputting torque, an output side for outputting torque, and a rod extending in a longitudinal direction between the input side and the output side to transfer torque along the transmission shaft. The rod comprises a first end provided at the input side, a second end provided at the output side and a torsional compliant section extending therebetween providing the transmission shaft with a torsional stiffness. The torsional compliant section comprises a cross-section which extends in the longitudinal direction to define a central core for transmitting torque directly from the first end to the second end and a radially outer section. This section also comprises a plurality ribs which extend radially and longitudinally from an outer periphery of the central core for increasing transverse stiffness of the rod.

A wind turbine rotary connection for two wind turbine components which are rotatable relative to each other, having a combined axial-radial bearing, wherein the axial-radial bearing has an axial bearing component and a separate radial bearing component. In particular it is proposed that the axial bearing component is in the form of a plain bearing component having a first convexly curved bearing surface and a corresponding second concavely curved bearing surface.

Ball socket assembly and method of making

The ball socket assembly includes a housing with an inner bore, and a bearing is received in the inner bore. The bearing is made as a monolithic piece of a plastic material and has a curved bearing surface which surrounds a ball cavity. The ball socket assembly also includes a ball stud with a ball portion and a shank portion. The ball portion is received in the ball cavity of the bearing and has an equator. The curved bearing surface of the bearing is in slidable contact with the ball portion on opposite axial sides of the equator. The plastic material of the bearing comprises 8-12 mass percent polytetrafluoroethylene, 2-6 mass percent carbon fibers, and the remainder acetal.

The central tubular portion has an outer peripheral surface. There is at least one ring on the outer peripheral surface of the central tubular portion. A method of repairing a composite material tube includes the steps of (a) identifying a damaged area on a composite tube, and (b) placing a patch on a surface of the tube and over the damaged area.

There is provided a ball bearing having a cage and balls held in the cage, the balls arranged one behind the other at a distance from one another in a circumferential direction about an axis of rotation of the ball bearing. The cage assembled from at least two cage parts joined to one another in a bonded manner and completely enclose the balls in a circumferential surface extending around the axis of rotation. A first cage part designed as a snap cage having axial webs projecting in the direction of the axis of rotation from a closed base ring and form ball pockets therebetween them, the first cage part encloses the balls along their outer circumference by more than 180°, holds the balls positively while forming an undercut and limits displacement of the balls within the circumferential surface in the direction of the at least one other second cage part.

Sliding Component and Method for Manufacturing Same

Provided is a sliding component having a low coefficient of friction and capable of exerting stable sliding characteristics from the initial stage of sliding, and a manufacturing method capable of easily manufacturing the sliding component. A sliding component (1) includes an iron substrate (10), in which graphite particles (13) are dispersed in an iron base (11), and a tin coating (20) formed on the iron substrate (10), the tin coating (20) including tin as a main material. The graphite particles (13) of the sliding component (1) are exposed through the tin coating (20). The manufacturing method includes: a preparation step of preparing an iron substrate (10) including graphite particles (13) dispersed in an iron base (11); and a film forming step of forming a tin coating (20) on the surface of the iron substrate (10), the tin coating (20) including tin as a main material. The film forming step forms the tin coating (20) so that the graphite particles (13) are exposed through the tin coating (20).
