A steel processing line includes a dip tub and a stab roll. The dip tub is filled with a quantity of molten metal. At least a portion of the stab roll is submerged in the quantity of molten metal. The stab roll includes two journals. Each journal is received by an opening defined by a roller sleeve including a ceramic or refractory material. The roller sleeve is disposed between each journal and a bearing block. An inner dimension of each roller sleeve and an outer dimension of each respective journal defines a clearance. The inner dimension of each roller sleeve and the outer dimension of each respective journal is configured such that the clearance persists as the stab roll and the pair of roller sleeves are heated by the molten metal. Alternatively, inserts are fastened to an outer surface of each journal in lieu of the roller sleeves.

A lock for use with an assembly is provided. The assembly includes an inner race having a bore with a generally tapered periphery. The bearing assembly supports a shaft. The bearing lock includes a sleeve having a generally cylindrical internal periphery adapted for cooperation with the shaft and a generally tapered external periphery that cooperates with the bore. The sleeve conforms from a first condition whereby the internal periphery defines a first diameter to a second condition whereby the internal periphery defines a second diameter different than the first. The bearing lock also includes a collar that cooperates with the sleeve to urge the sleeve from the first condition to the second condition. The collar conforms from a first condition whereby the generally cylindrical internal periphery defines a first diameter to a second condition whereby the internal periphery defines a second diameter substantially different than the first.

Radially adjustable radial PDC bearings and related methods

Bearing assemblies and methods of using bearings are provided in the present disclosure. In one embodiment, a bearing ring is provided having a plurality of carrier components removably coupled therewith. Each carrier component may carry one or more bearing elements. Upon wearing of the bearing elements beyond a desired amount, the carrier components may be removed from the bearing ring and installed in a different bearing ring to place the mearing elements at their original bearing surface radius. In another embodiment, individual bearing elements may be radially adjustable relative to the bearing ring to define and redefine the radius of a radial bearing surface.

A lock nut and tang washer mechanism preloads and locks components in a rotating environment. A drive system mechanism preloads and locks the device in a rotating environment and provides a double locking safety requirement needed in most aircraft for applications operating in an enclosed environment. The mechanism holds a required torque for the duration of the drive system operating life without the need for periodic visual inspections.

BEARING ARRANGEMENT FOR A MACHINE ELEMENT

Bearing arrangement for a machine element having a bearing having an outer bearing race radially fixed by a cylindrical cutout in the mounted state of the bearing arrangement; a locking element having an annular radial portion and at least one axial portion; and the annular radial portion of the locking element cooperates with a region of the outer bearing race on a first axial side of the outer bearing race to secure the outer bearing race at the first axial side; and at least one securing element which, in a mounted state of the bearing arrangement, is in operative engagement with the at least one axial portion of the locking element and with the machine element such that the locking element secures the outer bearing race at the first axial side.

CRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLY WITH A CENTRIFUGAL PENDULUM ATTACHED TO THE CRANKSHAFT

A crankshaft assembly for a motor vehicle drive train, including a crankshaft segment and a centrifugal pendulum secured thereon, which has a carrier secured to the crankshaft segment and at least one pendulum mass that moves relative to the carrier along a predetermined track. The crankshaft assembly has a friction unit connected to the carrier, which rests on the at least one pendulum mass such that, with a relative movement of the pendulum mass in relation to the carrier, the friction unit applies a frictional torque on the pendulum mass counteracting the relative movement, wherein the friction unit extends over a peripheral section of less than 360°.

Conversion spindle with dual ducted tiltrotors

A ducted-rotor aircraft includes a fuselage, first and second ducts, and a spindle that is coupled to the fuselage. Each duct includes a rotor having a plurality of blades. The first and second ducts are coupled to opposed ends of the spindle. The spindle is rotatably coupled to the fuselage with first and second bearings. The first bearing is configured to react to radial loads and the second bearing is configured to react to both radial and axial loads. The spindle includes a shaft, first and second fittings secured to opposed ends of the shaft, and first and second attachment interfaces that are attachable to the first and second ducts. The attachment interfaces may be integral with the fittings. Alternatively, the fittings may be configured to be secured to the attachment interfaces with fasteners.
