Disk Brake for a Utility Vehicle

A disk brake with lower cost and improved maintainability is provided. The brake caliper includes at least one actuating device for actuating the disc brake using a moveably guided bridge. The bridge has at least one threaded hole into which an actuating spindle is displaceably located. A brake disk end of the actuating spindle penetrates a caliper closing plate facing the brake disk. The positioning spindle carries a rotatably-mounted pressure piece which presses a brake pad against the brake disc. The opening is sealed by a bellows retained on the brake caliper on one side and on the pressure piece on the other side. A securing ring non-rotatably located on the actuating spindle and rotatably connected to the thrust piece interacts with the bellows during brake application and/or release to maintain a desired air gap between the brake disk and brake pad.

An operating unit for a parking brake of motor vehicles including an operatively connected unit having of a drive spindle and nut, which forms an axially longitudinally adjustable element of a linear drive. The drive spindle has a drive side for connection to an electric drive and a substantially cylindrical spindle portion having an external thread. The nut has a sleeve-shaped central body having an internal thread and a head portion designed to act as a pressure piston on a brake element of the parking brake. The internal and external threads intermesh in the operative connection and define a common axial axis of rotation. The thread is a symmetrical thread, and the flank angles, relative to a radial reference plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation, have angle values which are substantially equal in magnitude.

First and second pistons are provided in the respective first and second passages. Spindles are threadably connected with each piston. A clutch unit is connected to the spindles. The clutch unit has a first condition allowing relative rotation between the spindles and the pistons such that the pistons are axially movable within the passages and into engagement with the brake pad in response to hydraulic pressure applied to the pistons. The clutch unit has a second condition preventing relative rotation between the spindles and the pistons such that pistons remains engaged with the brake pad when hydraulic fluid pressure is removed from the pistons.

A device for adjusting clearance of a drum brake has an extendable strut assembly having a toothed ring and arranged between first and second shoes cooperating with a braking surface of a drum and moved by an actuating device from a resting position, in which they are distanced from the braking surface, to a braking position, in which they abut against the braking surface. The device has a first lever assembly, a second lever assembly having a coupling portion, and a connecting member having a connecting seat. The coupling portion is coupled to the connecting seat with a predetermined functional clearance. When the first and second shoes move from the resting position, the coupling portion slides in the connecting seat with an idle stroke equal to the predetermined functional clearance without transmitting motion to the connecting member and the first lever assembly. The second lever assembly transmits motion to the connecting member after the coupling portion has covered the idle stroke.
