A DRUM BRAKE SHOE AND AN APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR CHANGING SAME
The present disclosure relates to heavy vehicle drum brakes. In a particular form, the present disclosure relates to a brake shoe configured for ease of changing thereof, and to an apparatus and method for changing drum brake shoes. In one aspect, the brake shoe comprises a lining table supporting a brake lining, and at least one web extending from the lining table, the web comprising a spring attachment aperture extending therethrough, the brake shoe further comprising an access aperture extending through the lining table and the brake lining, wherein a center line of the access aperture intersects, or is at least close to intersecting, a center line of the attachment aperture.
High-strength and high-thermal conductivity new material composite brake drum and preparation method thereof
The present disclosure discloses a high-strength and high-thermal conductivity new material composite brake drum and a preparation method thereof. The composite brake drum is composed of an outer layer of high-strength ductile iron and an inner layer of high-thermal conductivity gray cast iron, which are integrated by centrifugal compound casting. The outer layer of the composite brake drum is firstly poured on the production line of iron particle-filled coated sand shells. Due to the fast solidification and cooling of the iron particle-filled coated sand shells, the castings have the characteristics of fine and dense organization structures to ensure the high strength and high toughness of the ductile iron of the outer layer. On this basis, the inner gray cast iron is poured under centrifugal casting conditions, in which a good metallurgical bond between the inner and outer layers is achieved by controlling the centrifugal casting process.
DRUM BRAKE ASSEMBLY WITH BRAKE LINER INTEGRATED INTO BRAKE DRUM
The disclosure concerns a Drum brake assembly (10) for a motor vehicle,
the drum brake assembly (10) having: a brake drum housing (16); at least one brake shoe (26); a brake lining (18);
wherein the brake lining (18) is arranged at an inner circumferential face (24) of the brake drum housing (16) and the brake shoe (26) is displaceable relative to the brake lining (18), so as to contact the brake lining (18) during braking. Also disclosed is a drake drum assembly (14) for a motor vehicle Method a for producing such a brake drum assembly (14).
METHOD FOR APPLYING SAND TO DRUM BRAKE LININGS
The invention relates to a method for applying sand to the inner radius of drum brake linings comprising the following steps: a) rolling a UV-curing adhesive onto the inner radius of a drum brake lining, b) applying a frictional grain, such as zircon sand, to the adhesive layer, c) removing the frictional grain not retained by the adhesive from the lining surface, and d) curing the coating by means of UV radiation.
A BRAKING ARRANGEMENT AND AN ATTACHMENT MEMBER
A braking arrangement includes a brake liner, a backing plate and an attachment member for interconnecting the brake liner to the backing plate, wherein the brake liner includes a recess in a surface facing the backing plate, wherein the backing plate includes a through hole associated to the recess of the brake liner; wherein the attachment member includes a first portion engaging the recess of the brake liner, wherein the attachment member further includes a second portion extending from the first portion of the attachment member and forming a one-piece unit with the first portion, and in that the second portion extends into the through hole of the backing plate and engages with the backing plate. An attachment member and a method for interconnecting a brake liner to a backing plate by an attachment member are also provided.
Brake lining assembly
The invention relates to a brake lining assembly, particularly for drum brakes, comprising a brake shoe having an outer contour, a brake lining having an inner contour, and an intermediate layer having an outer contact region and an inner contact region. The intermediate layer is arranged between the brake shoe and the brake lining, and the intermediate layer is formed, as viewed radially with respect to an axis of rotation of the brake shoe, in such a manner that the inner contact region is matched in a form-fitting manner to the outer contour of the brake shoe in a circumferential direction of the brake shoe. The outer contact region is matched in a form-fitting manner to the inner contour of the brake lining along the circumferential direction.
FLANGED BRAKE SHOE
A brake shoe includes a backing plate configured to interface with a brake head of a vehicle. The backing plate includes a main body and a flange attached to the main body and configured to align the brake shoe on a wheel of the vehicle. The brake shoe also includes a composition friction material disposed on the backing plate, which defines a brake surface for engaging the wheel. The brake shoe may have one or more dimensional characteristics for facilitating alignment of the brake shoe with the wheel, e.g., a ratio of a shortest horizontal distance to a shortest vertical distance of the brake shoe may be at least 1.07 and no more than 1.25, or a ratio of a length of the main body of the brake shoe to a length of the flange may be at least 1.3 and not more than 1.7.
Brake drum for a vehicle drum brake
A brake drum for a drum brake, in particular of a motor vehicle, includes a cylindrical jacket and a support pot which axially adjoins the jacket and which has a hub ring portion to be secured to a wheel hub. The monolithic brake drum is formed at least in part of a fiber-reinforced plastic.
FRICTION DEVICE WITH BONDING INSERTS
A friction device may include a backing plate connected with a friction material. The friction device may include a conditioning insert at least partially embedded within the friction material. The conditioning insert may include opposite first and second longitudinal sides that extend from the backing plate to the conditioning surface and opposite first and second lateral sides that extend from the backing plate to the conditioning surface. The first longitudinal side, the second longitudinal side, the first lateral side, and/or the second lateral side of the conditioning insert can include one or more protrusions extending away from the first longitudinal side, the second longitudinal side, the first lateral side, and/or the second lateral side and into the friction material.
BLOCKS FOR WHEEL BRAKES
A block for wheel brakes comprising a friction portion, in which a friction surface is defined, which, in use, acts upon a peripheral surface of a wheel in order to carry out the braking action, a support plate, which is fixed, in an irreversible manner, to a surface of the friction portion opposite the friction surface, and a base plate, which is fixed to the support plate and comprises a coupling element to fix the block as a whole to a brake system. The block comprises at least one elastic element placed between the support plate and the base plate. The presence of the elastic element creates a ventilation air space between the support plate and the base plate.
