A system and method to add an additional drive axle to a vehicle may include an auxiliary shaft aperture bored through the differential housing and an auxiliary shaft sleeve mounted over the aperture. An auxiliary shaft has a splined end interconnected to a modified pinion and a short transfer drive shaft interconnect disposed on an opposite end thereof, the short transfer drive shaft interconnect extending out from the modified differential housing through the auxiliary shaft sleeve. A short transfer drive shaft is operatively interconnected to the auxiliary shaft and rotational therewith. Further, an additional drive axle assembly is mounted to the vehicle rearward of the original drive axle, and the modified differential is operatively interconnected to an additional drive axle via the short transfer drive shaft, such that when the short transfer drive shaft rotates with the auxiliary shaft, the additional drive axle rotates with the original drive axle.

A system for augmenting the velocity of a motorized vehicle that includes a series of sprockets that interact with each other increasing the torque generated from the transmission of the vehicle and delivered through the drive shaft, thereby increasing the velocity of the vehicle.

Transmission integrated power take off for commercial vehicle transmission

A transmission includes a transmission main housing, an intermediate plate secured to the transmission main housing; and a rear housing attached to the intermediate plate. An input shaft is connected to an extension shaft including a plurality of splitter gears selectively couple-able to the extension shaft. A main shaft is rotatably supported on the extension shaft and includes a plurality of main box gears selectively couple-able to the main shaft. A range shaft is drivingly connected to the main shaft and provides input to a planetary gear assembly, the range shaft being supported by a first bearing disposed within the intermediate plate and further including a bore disposed within a forward end. The extension shaft is supported at a first end by a bearing assembly within a partition wall and a second end is supported by a bearing assembly disposed within the bore in the range shaft.

A rear mount power take-off for a transmission includes a housing assembly configured to be mounted in an opening in the transmission. A power take-off shaft includes an externally splined end extending into an opening in the housing assembly and is configured to be driven by a component of the transmission. A guide sleeve is received in the housing assembly and includes an exterior shoulder opposing an interior retaining shoulder of the housing assembly, the guide sleeve further including an interior shoulder. A spring biases the guide sleeve against the interior retaining shoulder of the housing assembly. A coupler sleeve is secured to an interior of the guide sleeve and includes a first internal spline for selective engagement with the externally splined end of the power take-off input shaft and a second internal spline configured to engage a power take-off device.

Torque sensor packaging for automatic transmissions

A transmission includes a main housing having a rear wall and at least one sidewall extending from the rear wall. The rear wall has an outer side and has an inner side that cooperates with the at least one sidewall to define an interior. A planetary gearset is disposed within the interior. An output shaft is coupled to the gearset and extends through a hole defined in the rear wall. An extension housing is connected to a rear portion of the main housing such that the outer side and the extension housing cooperate to define a torque-sensor cavity. The output shaft extends through the cavity. A torque sensor is disposed within the cavity adjacent to the output shaft and has an electrical connector disposed in a wall of the extension housing.

VEHICLE TRANSAXLE

A resonator having a cavity and an opening is formed. The cavity is formed between a transaxle case and a facing wall, of a first housing case, that faces the transaxle case. The opening is configured such that the cavity is partially opened to a lateral side through the opening. A volume of the cavity and a volume of the opening are set such that a resonance frequency of the resonator is lower than a natural frequency of the facing wall of the first housing case. Since the resonance frequency of the resonator is lower than the natural frequency of the facing wall, even when the facing wall vibrates at the natural frequency, the cavity does not resonate. Hereby, abnormal noise caused from the transaxle can be reduced.
