High efficiency, high output transmission having an aluminum housing
A transmission includes an input shaft coupled to a prime mover, a countershaft, main shaft, and an output shaft, with gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. A shift actuator selectively couples the input shaft to the main shaft by rotatably coupling gears between the countershaft and the main shaft. The shift actuator is mounted on an exterior wall of a housing including the countershaft and the main shaft. An integrated actuator housing includes a single external power access for the shift actuator. A controller interprets a shaft displacement angle, determines if the transmission is in an imminent zero or zero torque region, and performs a transmission operation in response to the transmission in the imminent zero or zero torque region.
POWER TRANSMISSION PATH SWITCHING DEVICE AND TWO-STAGE TRANSMISSION
A power transmission path switching device has a friction engaging device; a rotation transmission state switching device comprising a first member and a second member arranged coaxial with each other and having: a free mode and/or a one-way clutch mode allowing rotation of the first member with respect to the second member, and a lock mode preventing rotation of the first member with respect to the second member; and a control device that, when connecting the friction engaging device and setting the rotation transmission state switching device to the lock mode, has a function of connecting the friction engaging device, and then while maintaining the friction engaging device in a connected state, switches the rotation transmission state switching device to the lock mode.
GEAR UNIT AND POWERTRAIN FOR A VEHICLE
A gear unit for a powertrain of a vehicle includes a stepped planetary gearset, a first gear shifting element and a second gear shifting element. The stepped planetary gearset has at least a first ring gear, a second ring gear and a plurality of stepped planet gears rotatably mounted at a first planet carrier. The first planet carrier drivingly connects to an electric machine. The second ring gear is connected to an output shaft of the gear unit so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to it. The first gear shifting element fixes the first ring gear relative to a housing in a closed state, and the second gear shifting element brings the stepped planetary gearset into direct drive in a closed state. One of the two gear shifting elements is in the closed state for driving the output shaft in rotation.
GEAR UNIT AND POWERTRAIN FOR A VEHICLE
A gear unit includes: a stepped planetary gearset, and first and second gear shifting elements. The stepped planetary gearset has first and second sun gears, a first ring gear and a plurality of stepped planet gears rotatably mounted at a first planet carrier. The first ring gear is connected to an output shaft of the gear unit thus being fixed with respect to rotation relative to it. The first planet carrier is connected to a housing and fixed with respect to rotation relative to it. The first gear shifting element drivingly connects the second sun gear to an electric machine in a closed state, and the second gear shifting element drivingly connects the first sun gear to an electric machine in a closed state. One of the two gear shifting elements is in the closed state for driving the output shaft in rotation.
POWERTRAIN FOR MOTORIZED VEHICLE
A powertrain for a motorized vehicle includes a motor shaft connected to a motor, a first input shaft configured to be selectively connected to the motor shaft and provided with a first driving gear mounted on the first input shaft, a second input shaft configured to be selectively connected to the motor shaft and provided with a second driving gear mounted on the second input shaft, a planetary gear set connected to the first input shaft and mounted so as to allow power from the motor shaft to be supplied via a plurality of paths, a first driven gear mounted to a differential and configured to mesh with the first driving gear, and a second driven gear mounted to the differential and configured to mesh with the second driving gear.
Multi-speed transmission system and operating method
Methods and systems are provided for a multi-speed transmission. The multi-speed transmission includes a housing, an electric motor with a stator and a rotor positioned within the housing, and a planetary assembly positioned on a first axial side of the electric motor. The transmission further includes a first and second clutch unit spaced away from one another, each including a synchronizer, and designed to selectively rotationally couple to the rotor and to rotationally couple the rotor to different gears in the planetary assembly and where the electric motor and planetary assembly are coaxially arranged.
ELECTRIC AXLE ASSEMBLY AND OPERATING METHOD
Methods and systems for an electric axle assembly are provided herein. The electric axle assembly includes, in one example, an electric machine with a rotor shaft having an output gear thereon. The electric axle assembly further includes a planetary gearset with a carrier coupled to a pair of axle shafts, a first ring gear with external teeth that are rotationally coupled to the output gear; and a sun gear meshing with a plurality of planet gears that rotate on the carrier, where, in the axle assembly, internal teeth of the ring gear are rotationally coupled to the plurality of planet gears, and where, in the axle assembly, the sun gear or the carrier are grounded by a housing of the electric axle assembly.
Driveline component including multi-function actuator
A driveline component includes a first plate and a second plate. A motor is engaged with the first plate. The first plate and the second plate include ramped grooves that ramp toward the other of the first plate and the second plate. Balls are disposed between the first plate and the second plate and are engaged with the ramped grooves. A shifter is engaged with the second plate. Relative rotation of the first plate and the second plate causes the balls in the ramped grooves to move the first plate and the second plate axially relative to each other. This relative rotation may be used to make one type of mode selection, and operation of the shifter by the second plate may be used to make another type of mode selection. This allows the single motor to make both selections.
Power transmission device
A power transmission device includes a motor having a motor shaft, a transmission mechanism, a reduction gear, and a case member. The transmission mechanism is connected downstream of the motor. The transmission mechanism has a band brake, and an actuator. A reduction gear is arranged downstream of the transmission mechanism. The case member houses the motor, at least a part of the transmission mechanism, and the reduction gear. The case member has an outer circumference wall that surrounds an outer circumference with respect to a radial direction perpendicular to a rotation axis of the motor shaft, and a side wall that is linked to the outer circumference wall, and that extends outwardly in the radial direction from the outer circumference wall. The actuator is provided adjacent to the outer circumference wall, and adjacent to the side wall, the actuator overlapping with the band brake in the radial direction.

A drive system includes a planetary gear set having first and second rotatable input members connected in driven relation with respective first and second power sources, and a rotatable output member connected in driving relation with a working piece, the first and second rotatable input members being connected in differentially rotatable communication with the output member.
