A fire pit assembly having a combustion area along an upper portion of a base, wherein a fan is within the base. An overhanging hood is disposed upward of the combustion area, wherein a passageway fluidly connects the hood and the base so that airflow urged by the fan urges air above the combustion area into the hood, through the passageway, and out exhaust vents in the base disposed below the combustion area.

A modular outdoor fireplace and brick oven system is configured to be easily transportable and assembled. The modular system has a chimney unit and at least one modular unit. The modular unit may be one of an oven unit and a fireplace unit. The chimney unit and at least one modular unit are uniquely aligned using a plurality of alignment means. The alignment means are disposed between the assembled units on a top surface and a bottom surface of each modular unit and the chimney unit. The modular units are designed to allow airflow from each modular unit to reach the chimney unit. The modular units may further have lifting holes designed to easily move the modular units or assembled system with a forklift, lifting straps, and slings.

A smoke director device for a cooking device includes a housing containing an extendable and retractable smoke director assembly and a mounting assembly for removably attaching the smoke director device to the underside of an over the stove exhaust system such as those included in microwave ovens. The housing includes a front opening through which the smoke director assembly extends and retracts, a rear opening to guide smoke and other particulates towards the exhaust system and a bottom opening to further capture any rising smoke and particulates. The smoke director assembly can include a fixed inner panel located in the housing, a movable end panel and a movable intermediate panel. The smoke director assembly can be tiltable relative to the housing, to angle the smoke director assembly relative to a cook surface of the stove.

A heat deflector assembly comprising a hood and at least one support leg for supporting the hood above a fire pit, includes at least one side shield which is attachable to the hood, and configured to cover an open side formed between the fire pit and said hood, for capturing and directing heat generated by a fire lit in the fire pit.

A hood for directing smoke from a wood burning fireplace through a filter or catalytic converter enables a substantial reduction in pollutants released to the environment. In an exemplary embodiment, a hood includes a housing, in which an exhaust cleaner support unit supports an exhaust cleaner for reducing pollutants as smoke is directed from an intake opening of the housing to an exhaust opening of the housing. A rear surface of the housing and side surfaces of the housing abut three walls of the fireplace, reducing air paths behind or beside the hood to capture a substantial amount of the smoke from the fire. The front of the hood is tapered to direct the smoke toward the exhaust cleaner. Due to a mild suction effect from heating of the exhaust cleaner, the front surface of the hood need not extend all the way to the front of the fireplace, and air flow in front of the hood into the flue is not impeded.
