The apparatus has: an inlet configured for introducing a carrier gas; an outlet configured for discharging the carrier gas; at least one gas sensor configured to detect a gas; a first pump configured to convey the carrier gas in the apparatus; a membrane which comprises at least one semipermeable basic material, which is at least partially surrounded by the insulating medium, and which is arranged to be at least partially subjected to an incident flow of the carrier gas; a second pump configured to convey the carrier gas into the apparatus and out of the apparatus; and a separating column, which is arranged before the gas sensor. The gas sensor is a sensor array.

Method and device for determining tire particulate emissions in the driving operation of a vehicle

The invention relates to a method and a device for determining particulate emissions in the driving operation of a vehicle, in particular of a motor vehicle. According to the invention, provision is made that the device has a sensor system and a control unit and that in driving operation the sensor system and the control unit jointly undertake the function of particulate matter sensors. Here, the sensor system senses driving operation values on the vehicle. From the sensed driving operation values and by means of correlations of driving operation values with particulate matter values determined and stored in advance in the control unit, the control unit estimates the particulate emissions from tyre abrasion of the vehicle. Finally, the invention relates to a vehicle with the device according to the invention.

The wide-concentration multi-component hazardous gas detector includes a gas diluting and sampling connector, a sensor integrated module, electrochemical sensors, ADC (analog to digital converter) circuits, MCU (microprogrammed control unit) single chip microcomputers, acousto-optic alarms, a 4-button keyboard module, an LED (light-emitting diode) display module, an SD card data memory module, a power supply control and electric quantity display module, a high-performance lithium battery pack, a small evacuation pump, 433M signal transmission modules and a remote command platform signal collection terminal.

METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OBTAINING THE TEMPORAL OLFACTORY SIGNATURE OF A SAMPLE AND USES OF THE METHOD

The present invention relates to a method for characterising, by means of an electronic nose, the release kinetics of odorous compounds from a sample, comprising the following series of steps: (a) supplying a sample; (b) at a time t1, exposing the sensor array of the electronic nose to some of the gaseous medium comprising the odorous compounds released from the sample, and processing the response emitted by the sensor array of the electronic nose, after said exposure, in the form of a signal; and (c) repeating step (b) at least once, at a time t2 different from the time t1, whereby an olfactory kinetic signature characterising the sample is obtained. The present invention also relates to the use of this method for anti-counterfeiting and/or quality control purposes and for generating a data bank or database of temporal olfactory signatures. The present invention finally relates to certain devices used when implementing such methods.

Systems and methods for assessing a microbial characteristic within a growing medium. Such a system assesses one or more microbial characteristics, such as biomass and/or microbial activity, within a growing medium, such as soil. Electrical properties of a microbially degradable material in contact with the growing medium are measured. The measurements are used to determine the microbial characteristic(s) based at least partly on degradation of the microbially degradable material.

PORTABLE DEVICE FOR THE IN-LINE MEASUREMENT OF THE HYDROGEN SULFIDE CONCENTRATION OF AN OFF-GAS

The invention relates to a device and to a method for continuously measuring the hydrogen sulfide concentration of an off-gas by means of a detachable device suitable for being temporarily connected to equipment producing the off-gas. The method comprises a step of measuring the absorption of electromagnetic radiation by the off-gas. The device and method method can be used in particular to measure the hydrogen sulfide concentration in an off-gas produced during a step of sulfiding a hydroprocessing catalyst.

The sensor electrode includes a first sensor electrode formed on the substrate and a second sensor electrode formed on an opposite surface of the substrate from the first sensor electrode. The heater electrode is disposed more adjacent to the first sensor electrode than the second sensor electrode.

GAS CHROMATOGRAPH

A hybrid device comprising Metal Oxide Sensors in a Gas Chromatography column is described, whereby the readings from the MOS devices will vary along the column in reaction to the sample reflecting the differential delays imposed on the components of the sample depending on the elutive effect of the adsorbent lining the column for the respective component. By this means, a family of readings is obtained, any one of which may be easier to interpret for a particular sample, and which may be compared amongst themselves providing an additional measurement dimension. The behaviour of later sections of column or sensors may be modified dynamically during a measurement cycle depending on the readings obtained at the earlier stages.
