20230043248 · 2023-02-09 ·

Systems and methods of performing location tracking with ultra wideband (UWB) are provided. The system includes a network formed by base stations and tags. In operation, the system configures multiple Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) slots within a predetermined time frame. The TDMA slots include a clock calibration packet (CCP) slot, personal area network (PAN) identifier request and response slots, and TDMA tag slots. In the CCP slot, clock synchronization is performed among the base stations and the tags. In the PAN identifier request and response slots, the base stations receive reservation requests from the tags, and send correspond reservation responses. In each TDMA tag slot, the base stations listen to ranging requests from each tag, and send corresponding ranging responses with corresponding timestamps indicating the corresponding TDMA tag slot for each tag. Each tag only wakes up during the corresponding TDMA tag slot, thus achieving low power consumption.

An electronic device configures two or more virtual responders associated with different subsets of capabilities of a physical responder in the electronic device, where the physical responder comprises a radio-frequency (RF) transceiver and multiple antennas, and where a given virtual responder corresponds to the RF transceiver and a given antenna. Then, the electronic device performs, based at least in part on wirelessly communication with a second electronic device and using at least the virtual responders, measurements on wireless signals from the second electronic device to the electronic device, where the measurements correspond to a time of flight of the wireless signals. Next, the electronic device determines, based at least in part on the measurements, a range between the electronic device and the second electronic device, where the determination uses the measurements from different virtual responders to correct for an environmental condition and/or increase an accuracy of the determined range.

Geo-locating of wireless devices using a binning function

A method for determining a geo-location of a target station is provided. The method includes receiving a plurality of RTTs over a plurality of successive time intervals. Each successive time interval is equal to a predetermined amount of time. The plurality of RTTs is placed into a plurality of bins. Each bin has a predetermined time width and a count of RTTs placed in the bin. A bin with a highest count of RTTs (maxCb) and another bin with a next highest count of RTTs are selected and a maximum count ratio determined. The bin with maxCb to a maximum bin value is set based at least on a predetermined threshold of the maximum count ratio. During a next successive time interval, the RTTs that are placed in the bin that is set to the maximum bin value are selected to determine the geo-location of the target station.

LOCATION DETERMINER

It is provided a location determiner comprising: a first antenna; a radio signal modification device, wherein the radio signal modification device is configured to improve an ability to determine whether the portable key device is located on a back side or on a front side of the location determiner, based on obtaining a channel impulse response, CIR, of an impulse signal transmitted from the portable key device, wherein the location determiner is installable such that the back side is in a space being restricted by selectively unlockable a physical barrier and the front side is opposite the back side.

Radio frequency (RF) ranging in propagation limited RF environments utilizing aerial vehicles

The embodiments described herein provide ranging and location determination capabilities in RF-opaque environments, such as a jungle, that preclude the use of Global Positioning System (GPS) and/or laser ranging systems, utilizing transponders and Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers located on aerial vehicles. The aerial vehicles operate above the RF-opaque environment, and communicate with a ranging device within the RF-opaque environment on frequencies that propagate in the RF-opaque environment. The ranging device transmits RF signals to the transponders, which are received by the transponders and re-broadcasted back to the ranging device on a different frequency. The aerial vehicles also provide their coordinates to the ranging device using their GPS receivers. The ranging device uses information about the transmitted and received RF signals and the GPS coordinates of the aerial vehicles to calculate a perpendicular distance to a property line from the ranging device, and/or to calculate a coordinate location of the ranging device.

A drone detection, identification and location system and method may illuminate a target with one or multiple selected radio-frequency (RF) carrier frequencies. Both direct emissions received from the target and re-emissions generated by the target may be processed to determine whether the target is a drone. The re-emissions may be generated by circuitry of the target resulting from the illumination with the one or multiple RF carrier frequencies. The re-emissions may comprise cross-modulation products (CMPs) including forced non-linear emissions (FNLEs). The direct emissions and the re-emissions may be processed to generate an RF signature for the target. The target may be determined to be drone and the type of drone may be identified based on the RF signature.

Real-Time Position Tracking and Alerting

A wearable device is described that is configured to alert a subject prior to encountering an obstacle. The subject may be visually-impaired. The device includes: a mobile transceiver tag adapted to be worn by a subject within a designated area (e.g., a swimming pool); three or more stationary transceiver beacons in spaced apart, fixed positions; a wearable signal output device (e.g., headset); and a processor with software that can calculate the subject's position relative to one or more obstacles (e.g., end of swimming lane) and sends a left, right, or reverse signal to the signal output device.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, generating, by a server operating as a controller in a locating system, a schedule for a group of anchors operating as controlees in the location system that is utilized for determining position information for one or more mobile devices, where the schedule is for a ranging block period; and provisioning, by the server, the schedule to the group of anchors to cause anchor pairs of the group of anchors to wirelessly transmit REQ messages and RSP messages to each other according to the schedule operating as an initiator and a responder, respectively, wherein the one or more mobile devices overhear the REQ messages and RSP messages being transmitted between the anchor pairs and calculate a TDOA measurement based on the REQ messages and RSP messages. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Real-time vessel navigation tracking

A vessel monitoring service obtains transponder data of a vessel operating within a navigable area. In response to obtaining the transponder data of the vessel, the vessel monitoring service evaluates the transponder data and a plurality of travel segments recorded for a plurality of vessels to identify a travel segment to which the transponder data corresponds. The vessel monitoring service updates the travel segment using the transponder data and determine whether the vessel is engaged in an unauthorized activity. If so, the vessel monitoring service provides an indication that the vessel is engaged in the unauthorized activity.

Techniques are provided for asset location using backscatter communication. A methodology according to an embodiment includes receiving a signal, generated by a tag associated with an asset in response to a broadcast signal. The broadcast signal comprising a base code sequence, and the received signal comprising the broadcast signal modulated by a tag code sequence and shifted in frequency by a frequency offset.
