A transmission unit for a LIDAR device for emitting collimated beams into a scanning area. The transmission unit includes at least one beam source for generating beams in the form of a beam bundle, the beam source being designed as a surface emitter or an emitter array, and a transmission optical unit including at least one lens. The transmission unit includes a diaphragm including at least one aperture, which is configured to delimit a cross section of the beam bundle of the generated beams in a horizontal direction and/or a vertical direction. The at least one lens of the transmission optical unit is situated downstream from the diaphragm in the emission direction of the beams. A LIDAR device is also described.

The light emitted from the light source enters the light-incident surface. The light that has entered the light-incident surface passes through the light guide portion. The light-emitting surface emits the light passed through the light guide portion.

A directional illumination apparatus comprises an array of micro-LEDs that may be organic LEDs (OLEDs) or inorganic LEDs and an aligned solid catadioptric micro-optic array arranged to provide a water vapour and oxygen barrier for the micro-LEDs as well as reduced sensitivity to thermal and pressure variations. The shape of the interfaces of the solid catadioptric micro-optic array is arranged to provide total internal reflection for light from the aligned micro-LEDs using known transparent materials. A thin and efficient illumination apparatus may be used for collimated illumination in environmental lighting, display backlighting or direct display.

At least two lighting modules are disposed on a printed circuit board (PCB). Each of the lighting modules includes a plurality of light emitting diode (LED) chips disposed in a non-rectangular array. Lenses are provided over the lighting modules. Each lens has a convex outer surface, and a chamber with a planar or concave inner surface facing a corresponding lighting module and disposed to cover the LED set within the chamber. A light projecting device includes a plurality of LED sets and a plurality of lenses. An orientation part couples each lighting module to the PCB at a non-zero angle.

Disclosed are a lens unit, an optical lens, an illumination module, a vehicle light, and a vehicle. The lens unit comprises a light incident portion (1) having first unidirectional collimation and a light emergent portion (2) having second unidirectional collimation, so as to form an asymmetric light shape. The lens unit can meet the requirement of the anisotropy of the illumination light shape of the vehicle light so as to form the asymmetric light shape, thereby meeting the requirement for a narrow and long model.

A display system includes (i) a plurality of picture elements supported on a single semiconductor substrate and (ii) a backplane including electronic circuitry supported thereon and electronically connected with the picture elements. Each picture element includes a light steering optical element and an array of light emitting elements. The array of light emitting elements includes a first set, a second set, and a third set of inorganic LEDs that (i) are monolithically integrated on the single semiconductor substrate and (ii) emit, respectively, light at a first, a second, and a third wavelength, which are mutually distinct. The light steering optical element is configured for steering the light from the first set, second set, and third set of LEDs in a predetermined direction. The electronic circuitry is configured for individually driving each light emitting element of the array of light emitting elements.
