A policy-based printing system is implemented to allow access to a private domain to print using a public domain. The private domain includes private servers that store documents. The public domain includes servers and a printing device. A public policy server uses a domain list and a protocol connection with a private authentication server to validate a user and identify which private domain to access. The public policy server receives requests from the printing device to process a print job of a document in the private domain. The private server processes the requests using the policy and a ledger to determine whether to allow the print job to the printing device. If a parameter of the policy is exceeded, then the private server allows an overage for the parameter so that the document is accessed.

An information processing apparatus includes a processor configured to: store document information of a document in a predetermined storage region when processing that does not include a storing process of the document is executed on the document; display the document information stored in the predetermined storage region on a display when executing processing, the document information including at least one item of the document information, and cause a user to select an item of the document information from the at least one item of the document information; and execute processing by using the selected item of the document information.

An example method involves analyzing a plurality of perturbations of a printing system over a period of time, calculating statistics corresponding to each of the plurality of the perturbations of the printing system, after the duration of the period of time, executing an enhancement process for the printing system based on the calculated statistics of each of the perturbations, and adjusting settings of the printing system based on results of the enhancement process.

An example method of detecting device malfunctions at a subject device includes: obtaining a device event indicator representing an event detected at a device sensor of the subject device; obtaining an external event indicator representing an external event detected by an environmental sensor, the external event occurring external to the subject device; and identifying a device malfunction at the subject device based on the device event indicator and the external event indicator.

In some implementations, a device may identify, for a printing operation, a media type associated with media involved in the printing operation. The device may receive, from a sensor, a sensor measurement associated with an ambient condition of the printer. The device may determine, using a print optimization model, a printing configuration for the printing operation based on the media type and the ambient condition, wherein the print optimization model is trained based on reference data associated with historical printing operations associated with one or more printers, wherein the reference data includes reference configurations associated with the historical printing operations, respective media types of media used in the historical printing operations, and corresponding ambient conditions of the one or more printers during the historical printing operations. The device may cause the printer to perform the printing operation according to the printing configuration.

An image forming control method is applied to an image forming apparatus. The method includes, after the image forming apparatus is connected to an image processing apparatus, sending information related to a halftone parameter of the image forming apparatus to the image processing apparatus for storage, obtaining halftone-processed intermediate data that is to be printed sent by the image processing apparatus, and outputting the halftone-processed intermediate data that is to be printed to an image generator to perform an image forming operation.

An image forming apparatus includes a communication unit configured to communicate with an external controller, a reception unit configured to receive, in a case where a predetermined error related to the communication occurs, log information on the predetermined error from the external controller, and a storage control unit configured to store, in a storage unit of the image forming apparatus, the log information received from the external controller and log information indicating an operation of the image forming apparatus corresponding to a timing at which the predetermined error has occurred.

The supporting program is configured to support a printing program of an operating system of the information processing apparatus. The printing program of the operating system is configured to process data so as to display a print setting screen on a display of the information processing apparatus, Service information which is information related to a service applicable to the external printer is stored in the external printer. The supporting program causes the information processing apparatus to obtaining the service information, generating, based on the obtained service information, notification data indicating a notifying image to a user, and displaying the notifying image on the print setting screen displayed on the display of the information processing apparatus by outputting the generated notification data to the printing program of the operating system.

A storage medium storing an application program executable by a computer of an information processing device, an operating system of the information processing device having an automatic function by which, when procedure data indicating: (i) a series of procedures of a plurality of functions and operations; and (ii) an activation condition, is registered therein, the operating system automatically executes the series of procedures in response to the activation condition being satisfied, wherein, when the application program is activated based on the automatic function, the application program causes the computer to: acquire input information which includes activation information for identifying the activation condition; decide print target data based on the acquired activation information acquired; and automatically output a print job based on the decided print target data, the operating system being configured to transmit the input information to the application program at the time of activating the application program.
