A digital printing process for printing an image (I) including a white area (W) and/or a coloured area (C) on a packaging material includes selecting a packaging material with a substantially white side, and preparing print data to be sent to a printing means taking into account that the side of the packaging material is substantially white. The print data represents one or more first image areas (A1) representing the image (I), and one or more second image areas (A2) representing a packaging look (L), to be printed on the substantially white side of the packaging material, outside the one or more first image areas (A1) where the image (I) is to be located. The method further includes printing by the printing means on the substantially white side of the packaging material using the print data.

An information processing apparatus extracts colors used for an image, links each color to one of color groups including a first color group and a second color group, displays, in a first region of a UI, a representative color associated with a group, of the color groups, to which extracted color is linked, displays a color palette including one color in a second region of the UI, and replaces a color included in the image and belonging to the color group associated with the selected representative color with a color selected from the color palette. If the color groups include groups to which at least one extracted color is linked, representative colors respectively associated with the groups to which at least one of the extracted colors is linked are displayed in the first region.

The terminal device converts a document into first print data, generates a second hash value corresponding to second object data in first print data, generates second print data, when the second hash value accords with the first hash value in a first storage device, by substituting the second object data in the first print data with the first hash value, and transmits the second print data to the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus substitutes, upon receipt of the second print data, the first hash value included in the second print data with the first object data corresponding to the first hash value and stored in the second storage device, generates second bitmap data by analyzing the second print data subjected to the substitution, and causes an image forming device to execute a printing operation.

An image processing apparatus extracts a margin portion from an input image in a case in which the input image is a margined formation target image formed so as to include a margin, and automatically executes, based on the extracted margin portion, a print setting of the input image.

A printing apparatus includes a conveyance unit including a pair of rotation members that nip a roll sheet, and configured to convey the sheet by rotation of the pair of rotation members, a printing unit, and a control unit configured to, upon executing a new print job, cause the conveyance unit to perform a preparatory operation in which the sheet is conveyed in a forward direction and then conveyed in a reverse direction and stopped. If a predetermined condition is met after completion of a previous print job, the control unit causes the conveyance unit to perform the preparatory operation, and if the predetermined condition is not met after completion of a previous print job, the control unit does not cause the conveyance unit to perform the preparatory operation.

A method for dynamically modifying an image during a printing process. The method includes executing a digitized pre-process wherein a submitted image is prepared to be a printable image, identifying what marking options are to be applied to the printable image, and executing a real-time feed operation wherein the printable image is modified based on the marking options and applied to a printed article.

An image forming system includes an image forming apparatus and a terminal device. The terminal device converts a document into first print data, generates a second hash value corresponding to second object data in first print data, generates second print data, when the second hash value accords with the first hash value in a first storage device, by substituting the second object data in the first print data with the first hash value, and transmits the second print data to the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus substitutes, upon receipt of the second print data, the first hash value included in the second print data with the first object data corresponding to the first hash value and stored in the second storage device, generates second bitmap data by analyzing the second print data subjected to the substitution, and causes an image forming device to execute a printing operation.

A printing system includes a printing unit, a position determiner that randomly determines a position where a first information code is to be set, a modifier that modifies print data for printing an image, the first information code, and a positional information code having recorded therein positional information at the time of printing that indicates the position determined by the position determiner so that the first information code is set at the position determined by the position determiner, an acquirer that acquires the position of the first information code on a print medium as positional information and acquires the positional information at the time of the printing from the positional information code, and a determiner that determines whether the printing result is a falsified matter based on comparison of the positional information after the printing with the positional information at the time of the printing.

A method comprises acquiring print setting information related to printing of image data, and, in a case where the print setting information specifies printing using at least special ink, which is ink other than ink for a process color, during printing of the image data, determining a first method as a method of processing for reducing a data size of the image data and, in a case where the print setting information specifies printing using ink for the process color without using the special ink during printing of the image data, determining a second method different from the first method as a method of processing for reducing the data size of the image data.
