INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS AND INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD
An information processing apparatus includes a getting-off determining unit that determines whether or not an occupant gets off a vehicle, a location determining unit that determines whether or not an electronic device to be used by the occupant in the vehicle is at a predetermined position in the vehicle, and a notification control unit that gives a predetermined notification to the occupant when the getting-off determining unit determines that the occupant gets off and the location determining unit determines that the electronic device is not at the predetermined position.
PORTABLE ALARM SYSTEM
A portable alarm system has a base unit including a processor electrically connected to a wireless transceiver configured to communicate wireless signals to an external location. The base unit is further configured to receive wireless alarm signals from at least a first sensor and a second sensor, both of the first and second sensors being physically separated from the base unit. The processor is configured to be selectively programmed by a user to cause the base unit to communicate with a remote monitoring station in response to receiving an alarm signal from the first sensor, but not in response to receiving an alarm signal from the second sensor. Instead, when an alarm signal is received from the second sensor, the processor causes a different action, other than communicating with the monitoring station, to occur. Such action can include, for example, sending a wireless communication to a mobile electronic device.
MERCHANDISE SECURITY SYSTEM WITH INDUCTIVE CHARGING
Embodiments of the present invention are directed to security systems for securing an item of merchandise from theft or unauthorized removal. For example, the security system may include a sensor configured to be coupled to the item of merchandise and a base configured to removably support the sensor and the item of merchandise thereon. The sensor includes at least one electrical contact and an inductive coil, and the base includes at least one electrical contact and driving electronics for the inductive coil. The sensor is configured to transfer power inductively to the item of merchandise when the at least one electrical contact of the sensor contacts the at least one electrical contact of the base to thereby allow the driving electronics to energize the inductive coil, wherein the sensor is configured to cease transferring power to the item of merchandise when the sensor is lifted off of the base.
DEVICE FOR DETECTING BREAKAGE OF AN ELECTRICAL CABLE AND ASSOCIATED OPERATING METHOD
A device (10) for detecting breakage of at least one electrical cable (12) has the at least one electrical cable (12), a wireless sensor (14) connected to the at least one electrical cable (12), and at least one power supply unit (18) supplying power to the wireless sensor (14). The at least one power supply unit (18) has a means (20) of applying a predetermined potential to the at least one electrical cable (12), and the wireless sensor (14) is designed to detect either the predetermined potential, which is an indicator of the integrity of the at least one electrical cable (12), or a floating potential, which is an indicator of the breakage of the at least one electrical cable (12).
INFORMATION-PROCESSING DEVICE, CONTROL METHOD, AND PROGRAM
An information processing device includes: a state determination unit that determines a change in a state of connection between the information processing device and an external device or a power supply; a cause selection unit that selects from a plurality of choices, a cause of the determined change in the state of connection; and a processing unit that performs a process in accordance with the selected choice.
INDUCTION-BASED DATA IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM CHARACTERIZED BY REAL-TIME RESPONSE
