Regarding 100 reels of magnetic tape cartridges in the magnetic tape cartridge group, in a case where a maximum value of an absolute value of a difference between a servo band spacing obtained before storage in a predetermined environment and a servo band spacing obtained after storage in the predetermined environment for storage time T is defined as A, an arithmetic mean of a medium lives calculated by a linear function derived from a value of A and a value of the logarithm log.sub.e T of T is 4 years or longer and 3σ is 1 year or shorter. The medium life is T in a case where A satisfies Equation 1=1.5−B, and the B is a value calculated by multiplying a difference between a maximum value and a minimum value of the servo band spacings obtained in each of the five predetermined environments by ½.
INFORMATION PROCESSING DEVICE, INFORMATION PROCESSING METHOD, AND INFORMATION PROCESSING PROGRAM
An information processing device (10) includes at least one processor. The processor divides data with a certain size or larger, which is specified on the basis of a read-out history, into a plurality of pieces of partial data, and performs control to distribute and record the plurality of pieces of partial data with respect to a plurality of magnetic tapes, respectively.
Duplexing data from multiple file systems onto a shared tape
A computer-implemented method for duplexing data from multiple files systems onto a shared tape is disclosed. The computer-implemented method includes receiving a unique identifier of a first tape image written to a primary storage device of a first client system. The computer-implemented method further includes determining that a position of a first end-of-data marker on the first tape image differs from a position of a second end-of-data marker on a tape corresponding to the unique identifier of the first tape image. Responsive to determining that the position of the first end-of-data marker on the first tape image differs from the position of the second end-of-data marker on the tape corresponding to the unique identifier of the first tape image, the computer-implemented method further includes copying a difference in data between the second end-of-data marker on the tape and be first end-of-data marker on the first tape image to the tape.
Magnetic tape, magnetic tape cartridge, and magnetic tape apparatus
A magnetic tape in which a minimum value of TDStens among five TDStens measured respectively at a temperature of 16° C. and a relative humidity of 20%, a temperature of 16° C. and a relative humidity of 80%, a temperature of 26° C. and a relative humidity of 80%, a temperature of 32° C. and a relative humidity of 20% and a temperature of 32° C. and a relative humidity of 55% is 1.43 μm/N or more, a ratio of a change of TDStens to a change of a relative humidity obtained from the five TDStens is 0.005 μm/N/% or less, and a ratio of a change of TDStens to a change of a temperature obtained from the five TDStens is 0.020 μm/N/° C. or less.
METHOD OF TOTAL DIMENSIONAL STABILITY CONTROL IN MAGNETIC TAPE SYSTEM WITH GLOBAL CALIBRATION DATA
A method for generating calibration data useful for calibrating a plurality of tape cartridges includes the steps of selecting a subset of tape cartridges from the plurality of tape cartridges, the subset of tape cartridges having fewer tape cartridges than the plurality of tape cartridges; calibrating each of the subset of tape cartridges using a plurality of tape drives to generate global calibration data; selecting one of the plurality of tape cartridges that is not included within the subset of tape cartridges; and calibrating the one of the plurality of tape cartridges using the global calibration data generated via the calibrating of each of the subset of tape cartridges.

An information processing apparatus performs a control of recording identification information of a storage pool in at least one of a management area of a magnetic tape belonging to the storage pool or a recording medium other than a magnetic tape that is provided in a magnetic tape cartridge including the magnetic tape, the storage pool being included in a plurality of storage pools in which the same data is recorded by being multiplexed with a multiplicity of one or more, and the identification information being different for each storage pool in a pool group and being the same information between storage pools in pool groups different from each other according to a multiplexing order of the storage pool.
Method and system for a local storage engine collaborating with a solid state drive controller
One embodiment provides a system which facilitates data movement. The system allocates, in a volatile memory of a first storage drive, a first region to be accessed directly by a second storage drive or a first NIC. The first storage drive, the second storage drive, and the first NIC are associated with a first server. The system stores data in the first region. Responsive to receiving a first request from the second storage drive to read the data, the system transmits, by the first storage drive to the second storage drive, the data stored in the first region while bypassing a system memory of the first server. Responsive to receiving, from a third storage drive associated with a second server, a second request to read the data, the system retrieves, by the first NIC, the data stored in the first region while bypassing the system memory of the first server.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic is configured to position a magnetic tape volume to a position corresponding to an end of a last data set stored to the magnetic tape volume, and read an existing tape volume access block (TVAB) from the magnetic tape volume in response to a determination that the existing TVAB is stored to the magnetic tape volume. The logic is also configured to write one or more data sets to the magnetic tape volume subsequent to reading the existing TVAB in response to the determination that the existing TVAB is stored to the magnetic tape volume, determine metadata corresponding to the one or more written data sets, and update the existing TVAB with the metadata corresponding to the one or more written data sets to produce an updated TVAB.
