The cooler includes a heat transfer member having, on the one-side surface, a channel groove recessed toward the other side, a lid member, a sealing agent, and a coolant supply/discharge unit; and the lid member is fixed to the heat transfer member with a screw hole, a through hole, and a screw; and, at a position between the screw hole and the through hole, and the channel groove, a recess is provided on one or both of the one-side surface of the heat transfer member and the other-side surface of the lid member, and the sealing agent is applied on the side closer to the channel groove than the recess while no sealing agent is applied on the side closer to the screw hole than the recess.

Each of the first rotor core and the second rotor core includes a core base and a plurality of claw poles. The field magnet is located between the core bases. The case includes a cylindrical yoke housing and a lid. To balance magnetic flux from the first rotor core with magnetic flux from the second rotor core, the distance between the rotor and the stator is varied from the distance between the rotor and the yoke housing or the teeth of the stator are shaped to enable magnetic saturation.

An alternator for use in a vehicle comprises a stator assembly, a rotor, a casing, a shaft, an external fan, a first internal fan, and a second internal fan. The stator assembly comprises a stator frame and a stator winding wound on the stator frame. The stator winding is made of aluminum. The rotor is enclosed inside the stator assembly and has a first end and a second end. The second end is opposite the first end. The casing encloses the rotor and the stator assembly. The shaft is disposed in the casing with ends thereof extending beyond the casing. The shaft is rotatable about a fixed axis and the shaft having the rotor fixedly disposed thereon. The external fan is mounted on the shaft and is disposed outside the casing. The first internal fan is mounted on the shaft and is disposed inside the casing at the first end of the rotor. The second internal fan is mounted on the shaft and is disposed inside the casing at the second end of the rotor.

In an electric rotating machine which can improve rotating machine efficiency by suppressing a harmonic component of rotor magnetomotive force and reducing harmonic core loss, a permanent magnet is furnished in some of inter-magnetic pole portions, the inter-magnetic pole portion being formed between a first claw-shaped magnetic pole portion and a second such pole portion; the shapes of first and second chamfered portions provided in the inter-magnetic pole portion where the permanent magnet is inserted, differ from those of first and second chamfered portions provided in an inter-magnetic pole portion having no permanent magnet inserted; or the shapes of a first and second magnetic flux adjusting portions provided in the inter-magnetic pole portion where the permanent magnet is inserted, differ from those of first and second magnetic flux adjusting portions provided in the inter-magnetic pole portion where no permanent magnet is inserted.

A rotating electric machine according to embodiments is a rotating electric machine including a rotor including a first core and being capable of rotating around a rotating shaft; and a stator disposed to face the rotor in the axial direction of the rotating shaft, the first core including a first pressed powder material having a plurality of first flaky magnetic metal particles and a first intercalated phase, the first flaky magnetic metal particles having an average thickness of from 10 nm to 100 μm, each first flaky magnetic metal particle having a first flat surface and a first magnetic metal phase including at least one first element selected from the group consisting of Fe, Co, and Ni, the average value of the ratio of the average length in the first flat surface with respect to the average thickness being from 5 to 10,000, the first intercalated phase existing between the first flaky magnetic metal particles and including at least one second element selected from the group consisting of oxygen (O), carbon (C), nitrogen (N), and fluorine (F), wherein in the first pressed powder material, the first flat surfaces are oriented approximately in parallel with a first principal plane of the first pressed powder material and have the difference in magnetic permeability on the basis of direction within the first principal plane, and the first principal plane of the first pressed powder material is disposed to be approximately perpendicular to the radial direction of the rotating electric machine.

The electric motor creates a primary torque flow path that drives rotation of the rotor assembly relative to the stator assembly. The pulley is rotatable relative to the shaft and the rotor assembly. The pulley assist mechanism includes a plurality of claw-pole structures that are arranged circumferentially about the rotor assembly and an electromagnet that is configured to induce a magnetic field between the claw-pole structures and the pulley, which creates a secondary torque flow path between the pulley and the rotor assembly.

A rotor for a rotating electric machine includes a field core having a plurality of claw-shaped magnetic pole portions, a field coil wound on the field core, and a hollow cylindrical core member disposed to cover radially outer peripheries of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions of the field core. The core member has a plurality of first electrically-insulating portions that are spaced at first intervals in an axial direction of the core member. Each of the claw-shaped magnetic pole portions of the field core has a radially outer peripheral surface abutting the core member and a plurality of second electrically-insulating portions provided on the radially outer peripheral surface. The second electrically-insulating portions are spaced at second intervals in the axial direction of the core member.

Rotor for Rotary Electric Machine

In a rotor for a rotary electric machine, a claw pole assembly includes first claw poles and second claw poles. An annular cover member covers the outer circumferential surfaces of the first and second claw poles. The pole cover segments and the inter-pole cover segments are alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the rotor. Each of the pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a first center, and each of the inter-pole cover segments has a circular-arc shape around a second center different from the first center. The first circumferential width of each pole cover segment and the second circumferential width of a corresponding one of the inter-pole segment adjacent to the pole cover segment have a predetermined ratio. The predetermined ratio varies in an axial direction of the rotor.
