A multi-phase voltage converter has a plurality of integrated circuits (ICs), and a controller. Each IC has a control pin to receive a control signal, a monitoring pin and a temperature sensing circuit, the controller has a monitoring pin connected to the monitoring pin of each of the plurality of ICs to receive a monitoring signal. The temperature sensing circuit is connected to or disconnected from the monitoring pin of the corresponding one of the plurality of ICs in response to the control signal and the monitoring signal.
MULTI-PHASE BUCK-BOOST CONVERTER
A multi-phase buck-boost converter circuit comprises a buck circuit stage, a boost circuit stage, and a control circuit. The buck circuit stage is connected to an input of the buck-boost converter circuit to receive an input voltage. The boost circuit stage includes multiple boost circuits connected in parallel. The boost circuit stage is coupled to the buck circuit stage and an output of the multi-phase buck-boost converter circuit. Each boost circuit includes an inductor coupled to the buck circuit stage. The control circuit operates the multiple boost circuit stages out of phase with respect to each other in a boost mode, operates the buck circuit stage in a buck mode, and operates the multiple boost circuit stages out of phase with respect to each other and operates the buck circuit stage in a buck-boost mode.
Integrated current sharing schemes for multiplying power stages support of a multiphase controller
Methods and apparatuses for controlling an apparatus comprising a controller integrated in a first slave device. In an example, the controller can detect a sensed current of the first slave device. The controller can receive a voltage signal associated with a second slave device connected to the first slave device. The controller can generate a correction current based on the sensed current of the first slave device and the voltage signal. The controller can modulate a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal received by the first slave device using the correction current. The controller can control a power converter using the modulated PWM signal.
Digital current mode control for multi-phase voltage regulator circuits
A voltage regulator circuit included in a computer system may include multiple phase circuits each coupled to a regulated power supply node via a corresponding inductor. The phase circuits may modify a voltage level of the regulated power supply node using respective control signals generated by a digital control circuit that processes multiple data bits. An analog-to-digital converter circuit may compare the voltage level of the regulated power supply node to multiple reference voltage levels and sample the resultant comparisons to generate the multiple data bits.

A method of controlling a multi-phase power converter having a plurality of power stage circuits coupled in parallel, can include: obtaining a load current of the multi-phase power converter; enabling corresponding power stage circuits to operate in accordance with the load current, such that a switching frequency is maintained within a predetermined range when the load current changes; and controlling the power stage circuits to operate under different modes in accordance with the load current, such that the switching frequency is maintained within the predetermined range when the load current changes.
Multi-phase interleaved power converters with improved current balancing
A multi-phase interleaved PFC converter includes at least six switches coupled in a multi-phase interleaved circuit arrangement, and a control circuit. The control circuit is configured to turn on and turn off a first one of the switches according to a PWM signal to operate the first switch as an active switch having an off-time as a function of a duty cycle of the PWM signal, while turning on and turning off a second one of the switches as a synchronous switch. The control circuit is also configured to receive signal(s) indicative of currents in each phase of the interleaved circuit arrangement, set an on-time of the second switch equal to the off-time of the first switch when the signal(s) indicate continuous mode operation, and set the on-time of the second switch to a duration less than the off-time of the first switch when the signal(s) indicate discontinuous mode operation.

A voltage conversion system includes an energy storage device; a power conversion unit connected to the energy storage device, the power conversion unit comprising: an inductor, the inductor comprising a number of coils that are non-coupled or weakly coupled, with a coupling coefficient less than 0.05; a multi-phase boost stage coupled to the inductor, wherein the multiphase boost stage comprises a number of phases that equals the number of coils; an inverter coupled to the multiphase boost stage; and a load coupled to the power conversion unit.

A method for controlling a power conversion system includes: configuring a carrier period of the power modules, and configuring a phase shift of carrier waves of the adjacent power modules to be 2π/N; selecting M power modules to operate within the carrier period, where O≤M≤N, and providing a modulation wave to the power modules, an amplitude of the modulation wave being A/N of a carrier peak of the carrier waves; and comparing the value of the modulation wave with a value of the carrier wave of each of the power modules, respectively, wherein, when the value of the modulation wave is greater than the value of the carrier wave, the corresponding power module runs; when the value of the modulation wave is less than or equal to the value of the carrier wave, the corresponding power module stops.

A current mode control modulation includes a ramp signal generator generating a slope compensated ramp signal with slope compensation. In some embodiments, the ramp signal generator generates a ramp signal for the current control loop having a first ramp portion with slope compensation and a second ramp portion that matches the expected current mode signal. In some embodiments, the ramp signal generator includes a switched capacitor circuit supplied by a current circuit to charge or discharge nodes in the switched capacitor circuit to generate the ramp signal with slope compensation.

This application discloses a photovoltaic system. The photovoltaic system includes a DC/DC converter, a resonant switched capacitor converter, an inverter, and a controller. An input terminal of the DC/DC converter is connected to a photovoltaic array. A first input terminal of the resonant switched capacitor converter is connected to a positive output terminal of the DC/DC converter, and a second input terminal of the resonant switched capacitor converter is connected to a negative output terminal of the DC/DC converter. A first output terminal of the resonant switched capacitor converter is connected to a neutral wire of the inverter, a second output terminal of the resonant switched capacitor converter is connected to a negative bus of the inverter, and the resonant switched capacitor converter includes at least the following two resonant switched capacitor circuits RSCCs connected in parallel: a first RSCC and a second RSCC.
