The present invention provides systems and methods for the virtualization, aggregation, and distributed processing of facsimile communications. The Remote FAX Interconnect known as etherFAX® is a system and method that allows for the reception and delivery of information based on cloud computing infrastructure to or from one or more facsimile systems using Internet/web based communication protocols such as HTTP(S) as the transport between a facsimile capable application or hardware and the remotely accessible etherFAX® services.

A non-transitory computer readable information recording medium stores a program therein. The program when executed by one or more processors causes an operation terminal to perform determining, based on information that the operation terminal obtains from the outside in response to an operation performed on the operation terminal, an electronic apparatus from among a plurality of electronic apparatuses connected to the operation terminal, the electronic apparatus being one which is to output electronic data stored in an information storage apparatus connected to the operation terminal; obtaining, from the information storage apparatus, electronic data from among a plurality of sets of electronic data stored in the information storage apparatus in a format that the determined electronic apparatus is capable of outputting; and transmitting the obtained electronic data to the determined electronic apparatus.

An image reading device including a reading transmission function of transmitting read data, generated by reading an original document, to a storage destination for storing the read data, the storage destination being included in an external device, the image reading device including a control unit configured to execute a communication test for determining whether communication with the storage destination is successfully performed, wherein the control unit includes a manual test mode for starting the communication test in response to an execution instruction of the communication test from a user and an automatic test mode for starting the communication test when a starting condition for starting the communication test is satisfied.

Embodiment of systems and methods for the sending, delivery or receiving of faxes are disclosed herein. In particular, certain embodiments include a fax connector that may be deployed at users' sites, and a fax registration system that may be deployed remotely from these users' site. The fax connector can be accessed at a user's site over a computer based network in order to perform functions associated with faxing, including sending, receiving and obtaining status on faxes. The fax connector deployed at a sending user's site communicates with the fax registration system to obtain destination data associated with a recipient user's fax connector and transmits the fax to the destination fax connector over the computer based network based on the destination data obtained from the registration system. The fax can then be presented to the recipient at the recipient user's site.

Disclosed are techniques for mitigating loss of information in electronically transmitted images caused by compression operations performed on the images to facilitate transmissions. When an image for electronic transmission is received, a computer vision model extracts various points of data from the image corresponding to information present in the image that is intended for human consumption (for example, in a scan of a handwritten note from a doctor prescribing a medicine for a patient, some of the data points may include the name of the medicine, the dosage value, and when the medicine should be consumed). A test transmission image is then generated by applying the compression operations which are applied in the electronic transmission to a copy of the image, and that copy is also inputted to the computer vision model for data point extraction. Differences in the extracted data points are used to modify the image for transmission.

An information processing apparatus includes processing circuitry. The processing circuitry acquires a log related to communication and execution of processing and transmits the log to a log collection server. The processing circuitry stores a log related to a transmission failure in a memory storage when transmission of the log to the log collection server fails due to occurrence of an error. When the transmission of the log to the log collection server succeeds after the transmission failure, the processing circuitry stores a log related to a transmission success in the memory storage and transmits the log related to the transmission failure and the log related to the transmission success to the log collection server.

An image-forming apparatus comprising a controller and a communicator, wherein the controller is configured to perform to detect distance information of the image-forming apparatus with respect to a portable terminal device possessed by a user based on communication with the portable terminal device using the communicator, detect, based on the detected distance information, approach or leaving of specific portable terminal devices possessed by at least one or more predetermined users to or from the image-forming apparatus, and change a behavior of the image-forming apparatus when the controller detects the approach or the leaving of the specific portable terminal device to or from the image-forming apparatus.

The present invention provides an information processing apparatus capable of mounting an optional hardware. The information processing apparatus comprises a processor, an image processing circuit and a socket to which the optional hardware is to be mounted, wherein the optional hardware being connected to the socket communicates with the image processing circuit. The processor transmits a predetermined packet to the optional hardware mounted to the socket, receive a response packet to the predetermined packet from the image processing circuit, determines whether or not the received response packet is an expected response packet, and controls supplying power to the optional hardware in accordance with a determination result of the received response packet.

A light emitting diode (LED) which is turned ON by a local area network (LAN) controller, is controlled to be turned ON by a central processing unit (CPU), which executes a program, in accordance with an execution status of the program.
