In a communication system, an image forming apparatus sends an address of a receiving section to an external device. The external device receives a selection of image data through plural thumbnails displayed on a display section, and wirelessly sends the selected image data to the image forming apparatus with the address. The image forming apparatus receives the selected image data sent with the address by the external device, and prints an image based on the selected image data. The image forming apparatus accepts a selection indicating whether a communication between the external device and the image forming apparatus is performed by a first communication system method or a second communication system method. The image forming apparatus performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the first communication system method when the first communication system method is selected, and performs sending and/or receiving the image data with the address by the second communication system method when the second communication system method is selected.

A transmitting apparatus includes a communication interface that transmits data according to a transmission job, and a controller having one or more processors which executes instructions stored in one or more memories. The controller is configured to set a setting of outputting of a transmission report indicating a transmission result of the transmission job as a device setting of the apparatus, set the setting of outputting of the transmission report as a setting of the transmission job, and set whether or not to accept the setting of outputting of the transmission report of the transmission job as the device setting of the apparatus.

A method is disclosed comprising: connecting, by a part scanner, to a blockchain platform; outputting a user interface, the user interface including at least a first input component and a second input component; capturing an image of a surface of a part; outputting the image in the user interface; generating a surface descriptor based on the image; when the first input component is activated, attempting to store, in the blockchain platform, an authentication record that is generated based on the surface descriptor, and outputting, in the user interface, an indication of an outcome of the attempt to store the authentication record in the blockchain platform; and when the second input component is activated, attempting to authenticate the part based on the surface descriptor and outputting, in the user interface, an indication of an outcome of the attempt to authenticate the part.

The application relates to a method for operating a scanning system with a scan server arrangement and a scanning device that can be connected to the scan server arrangement. The scanning system is configured to obtain a scan job encrypted with a public scan job key from a scanning device and to receive a private scan job key encrypted with a public computer device key from a mobile user terminal. The received encrypted private scan job key is subsequently sent to the computer device for further processing.

The processor is configured to transmit the scan data to the transmission destination without a password in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel being a transmission destination of an operator who operates the operation panel, and transmit the scan data protected with a password to the transmission destination in response to the transmission destination designated on the operation panel including a transmission destination of any person other than the operator.

An image reading apparatus receives, from an information processing apparatus, a scanning request for push scanning for a designated destination, scans an original document and generates image data in response to the scanning request, and transmits, to the destination, a request including authentication information for accessing the destination and the image data, and if a response indicating that an error has occurred in authentication using the authentication information is received, the image reading apparatus saves image data for transmission based on reauthentication and provides a notification of the error to the information processing apparatus.
