Methods and systems are described for distributing and receiving fax transmissions via a data connection that is owned by a service provider. In one embodiment, a fax server receives a signaling protocol invite from a telephone service provider in response to the telephone service provider receiving, over a circuit switched network and from a source device, an incoming call signal to a fax telephone number of the service provider. The server responds to the invite by establishing a data connection based on the signaling protocol with the telephone service provider, where the data connection is owned by the service provider. The server receives an incoming fax message that is in a fax format and is routed by the telephone service provider as the source device transmits the incoming fax message. The server transmits the fax message to a destination address.

Methods and systems are described for distributing and receiving fax transmissions via a data connection that is owned by a service provider. For image transmission, during parameter adjustment processing for adjusting parameters of the waveform of a selection signal which is a signal transmitting a destination number of a communication partner to call, the controller makes the first communicator transmit a selection single of the second destination number. After the selection signal of the second destination number is transmitted, the controller judges whether or not the second communicator receives a call.

A communication apparatus is provided and includes a display configured to display information and at least one controller configured to cause the display to display a PIN code set in the communication apparatus; and output a guidance voice regarding a remote setting change using a tone signal to an external apparatus via voice communication depending on reception of a tone signal corresponding to the PIN code from the external apparatus via voice communication.

The facsimile apparatus of the present invention, and the method of controlling the same, switches a connection between a telephone device and a telephone line between connected and cut off, has a power supply for supplying power to the telephone device, and, in a state where the telephone device and the telephone line are connected and supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device is stopped, in a case that an off-hook of the telephone device is detected by a detection unit for detecting an off-hook and an on-hook of the telephone device, controls to start supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device.

The facsimile apparatus of the present invention, and the method of controlling the same, switches a connection between a telephone device and a telephone line between connected and cut off, has a power supply for supplying power to the telephone device, and, in a state where the telephone device and the telephone line are connected and supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device is stopped, in a case that an off-hook of the telephone device is detected by a detection unit for detecting an off-hook and an on-hook of the telephone device, controls to start supply of power from the power supply to the telephone device.

The present invention provides a technique that enables an image communication apparatus capable of performing voice communication and T.30 in-band FAX communication over the IP network to positively detect a CNG signal and achieve switching to FAX reception in the answerphone connection mode and the FAX/TEL-switching mode. The communication apparatus includes a MODEM that controls facsimile communication and a SLIC that controls a telephone. A selector includes switches for connecting the IP network and the MODEM, and switches for connecting the IP network and the SLIC. A CPU controls the switches of the selector such that signals from the IP network are supplied to both of the MODEM and the SLIC.

The present invention provides a technique that enables an image communication apparatus capable of performing voice communication and T.30 in-band FAX communication over the IP network to positively detect a CNG signal and achieve switching to FAX reception in the answerphone connection mode and the FAX/TEL-switching mode. The communication apparatus includes a MODEM that controls facsimile communication and a SLIC that controls a telephone. A selector includes switches for connecting the IP network and the MODEM, and switches for connecting the IP network and the SLIC. A CPU controls the switches of the selector such that signals from the IP network are supplied to both of the MODEM and the SLIC.
