To control an image forming apparatus using a service on a network, an information terminal performs two-factor authentication and acquires authentication information through the two-factor authentication so that the image forming apparatus accesses the service.

An information processing system includes an image processing apparatus capable of obtaining image data and a server-for-service connected with the image processing apparatus through a network. The server-for-service holds profile information, which defines processing executed on the image data uploaded from the image processing apparatus, in association with authorization information on a user. Thereafter, the server-for-service executes the processing in accordance with the profile information on the image data in response to a request from a terminal device or the image processing apparatus.

An information processing apparatus transmits a login request for logging into an external device to the external device, based on a short-range wireless communication being established between the information processing apparatus and the external device in a state where an application is operating in a background state on the information processing apparatus.

Embodiments of the present disclosure include apparatuses and methods for sensor blocking. In a number of embodiments, a method can include operating a sensor block of an apparatus in a first mode to allow a sensor to receive inputs, and operating the sensor block in a second mode to inhibit the sensor from receiving the inputs. A sensor block can be used to prevent a sensor, such as an image sensor, from receiving an input, such as a light source input, to capture image data. A sensor block can be used to prevent a sensor from capturing image data even when an application causing to the sensor to operate, such as when applications have access to the sensor, but the user of a device is unaware that an application is using the sensor. The sensor block can be used to prevent the sensor from capturing useful images and the sensor can only capture a black image of the sensor block and not the surroundings of the device.

A storage device stores an operation history in which at least one of four types of data, picture, graphic, symbol, and keyword, in a first data set used in image formation on a sheet by the image forming device is associated with a setting data set manipulated by a user during the image formation. An image reading device reads an original document for use in forming an image and generates a second data set. A comparator compares at least one of the four types of data in each of the stored first data sets with at least corresponding one type of data in the second data set and selects the first data set consistent with the second data set. A screen creator uses the setting data set associated with the selected first data set to create a setting screen for image formation. A display device displays the created setting screen.

An image processing apparatus of one embodiment includes an image processing unit and a controller. The controller receives biometric information for a user for a logon operation and re-orders user record entries in a table when a predetermined condition occurs. Each record entry in the table includes reference biometric information in association with user information. The re-ordering of the entries is based on user information stored in the user record entries. After the re-ordering of the user record entries in the table, the controller performs an authentication operation that includes comparing the received biometric information to reference biometric information in the re-ordered user record entries of the table until a match is determined.

A system is configured to include a device provided with a SIM and a device management server, wherein the SIM and a contract are managed in association with each other, and when the SIM is mounted on a device, second identification information that identifies the device is associated with the SIM and is transmitted to the device management server, and in a case in which the second identification information associated with the SIM has changed, the second identification information is registered in the contract when the device is determined to have a contract that is identical to the contract. The determination of whether or not a device has a contract that is identical to the contract is performed based on the position information of the SIM.

A method is provided to exert unbinding control on an image forming device. The method includes: obtaining an unbinding instruction; sending a first unbinding request to the server according to the unbinding instruction, where the unbinding request includes identification information of the image forming device; obtaining a reply message from the server in response to the unbinding request; and in response to a determination that the reply message indicates unbinding failure, automatically sending a second unbinding request to the server.

Provided is an image processing apparatus which includes a display, is able to read card information from a card, and provides at least any of a function using a scanner and a function using a printer, the image processing apparatus including: an execution unit configured to execute, if card information associated with a user account is detected, a login process to the image processing apparatus based on the user account; and a control unit configured to call, if the same card information is detected during a login state according to the login process, a shortcut corresponding to the card information in the login state, wherein, if the shortcut is called, a screen for a function associated with the shortcut is displayed on the display in a state in which a setting value group corresponding to the shortcut is applied.

A communication device may: send a change instruction including identification information to a server, wherein the server may store the identification information and target user information corresponding to a user of a terminal device in association with each other, and the change instruction may be a signal to instruct the server to send first authentication information to the terminal device by using the target user information, after the first authentication information has been sent from the server to the terminal device, accept input of the first authentication information, in a case where the input of the first authentication information is accepted, send the first authentication information to the server, in a case where the first authentication information is sent to the server, receive a change permission notification from the server, and in a case where the change permission notification is received from the server, change the password.
