20230239579 · 2023-07-27 ·

Methods and systems for generating dynamic picture metadata are presented. Given an input picture generated on a mastering display, characteristics of a target display which is different than the mastering display, and an initial set of dynamic metadata for the input picture, an iterative algorithm: maps the input image to a mapped image for the target display according to a display management process and the image metadata, compares the input image to the mapped image according to a visual appearance-matching metric, and updates the image metadata using an optimization technique until a visibility difference value between the input image and the mapped image according to the visual appearance-matching metric is below a threshold.

Color resources

Example color resources are generated. A first luminosity amount of a greyscale color in a greyscale color space is determined. The greyscale color corresponds with a transformation of a source color in a first color space converted to the greyscale color. The source color corresponding with a depletion color in a second color space, and the depletion color has a second luminosity amount. A target color in a color resource is generated via adjusting a black channel amount in the depletion color to match the second luminosity amount with the first luminosity amount. The target color to correspond with the source color in the color resource.

METHOD AND DEVICE OF CONVERTING A HIGH-DYNAMIC-RANGE VERSION OF A PICTURE TO A STANDARD-DYNAMIC-RANGE VERSION OF SAID PICTURE

The present disclosure generally relates to a method and device of converting a high-dynamic-range (HDR) version of a picture to a standard-dynamic-range (SDR) version of this picture. The method is characterized in that it converts the high-dynamic-range version to the standard-dynamic-range version of the picture according to: a first indicator (I1) that indicates the presence of color mapping parameters; a second indicator (I2) that indicates whether a device is configured to convert the high-dynamic-range version to the standard-dynamic-range version of the picture by taking into account said color mapping parameters; and a third indicator (I3) that indicates whether converting without taking into account said color mapping parameters is inhibited.

Source colors are mapped within a mapping segment starting at a preserved gamut boundary color (P.sub.C) and ending at a target gamut boundary color (I.sub.T-C) of the chromaticity plane, corresponding, in a linear 3D color space, to an intersection of the target color gamut (TCG) with a plane of constant luminance and with a mapping plane (MKO) comprising said source color (M), a black point (K) and a white point (O).

Interactive Three-Dimensional (3D) Color Histograms
20170346992 · 2017-11-30 ·

Techniques for interactively determining/visualizing the color content of a source image and how the corresponding image data is mapped to device colors are described herein. For example, the color content of a digital image can be converted between different color spaces to identify gamut limitations of an output device (e.g., a printing assembly), discover color(s) that cannot be accurately reproduced, etc. Color space conversions enable the transformation of the color content of the digital image from device-specific colorants to a device-independent representation (and vice versa). In some embodiments, these transformations are facilitated using lookup tables that are implemented in graphical processing unit-resident memory.
