The display device comprises a communication unit for receiving a request packet periodically transmitted from the remote controller including a plurality of buttons, wherein the request packet includes an event associated with a first button among the plurality of buttons; an identification unit for periodically identifying whether the request packet is received within a first time section; and a control unit for, when periodic reception of the request packet is stopped within the first time section, controlling the operation of the display device to forcibly perform a release event of the first button.

The present disclosure relates to an electronic device, a method, and a computer-readable medium for quickly switching channels. An electronic device is provided. The electronic device includes: a memory having instructions stored thereon; and a processor. The processor is configured to execute the instructions stored on the memory to cause the electronic device to execute the following operations: playing a first program of a first channel, wherein the first program is a live program; receiving user input when playing the first program; and in response to receiving the user input, switching from the first channel to a second channel and playing a second program of the second channel, wherein the second program is an OTT program.

Aspects of the disclosure relate to a remote control which may include one or more buttons configured to provide input to the remote control upon being activated, a transmitter for transmitting data, a receiver for receiving data, a processor and memory storing computer executable instructions that, when executed, cause the two-way remote control to perform a method for configuring repeat transmission behavior of one or more of the buttons of the two-way remote control. Further, the receiver may be configured to receive data from a device configured to be controlled by the remote control and the data may include instructions for configuring the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control. Additionally, the two-way remote control may configure the repeat transmission behavior of the one or more buttons of the two-way remote control based on the data received from the device.

A display apparatus includes a display, a single physical button and a processor configured to control the display to display a guide user interface (UI), a selection UI and a plurality of menu items, based on a user input received via the single physical button being identified as a short click input, move the selection UI from one menu item among the plurality of menu items to another menu item among the plurality of menu items, based on the user input being identified as a long press input, select the one menu item and execute a control function corresponding to the selected one menu item, and based on an execution of the control function, control the display to display a setting UI indicating a current setting value of the control function.

A control device connected to a media device can autonomously return the active source input of the media device to a previously selected active source input. Any client device within a network may be able to switch the active source input of the media device to the source input associated with the device so as to deliver media content to the media device. Tor return to the previous active source input generally requires user intervention. However, the control device can store the previous active source input of the media device and then, when the media content is terminated or the client device disconnects from the media device, transmit a source input command that causes the media device to cycle through the plurality of source inputs associated with the media device until the active source input is the previous source input without requiring any user intervention.

An apparatus and method for receiving and displaying a television signal and a data signal in a mobile terminal. The mobile terminal includes a display unit with a video data display area and a user data display area. The mobile terminal determines in a standby mode whether it is set to a television mode or communication mode. If the mobile terminal is set to the television mode, it controls a tuner to select a desired television channel. The mobile terminal stores video data of a current frame received over the selected channel and user data corresponding to the selected channel in a memory unit, outputs video data of a previous frame stored in the memory unit to the video data display area of the display unit in a frame period and then outputs the user data stored in the memory unit to the user data display area of the display unit upon completing the output of the video data of the previous frame. In the communication mode, the mobile terminal stops the operation of the tuner and displays user data generated in the communication mode in the video data display area and user data display area.

Devices, systems, method, and program products are provided, which support temporally-seamless change functionalities during multichannel streaming sessions established between a streaming media server and a client media receiver. In embodiments, the method includes outputting, to a display device, a first streaming channel contained in a streaming channel bundle and assigned a high priority level. When receiving a channel change request to view a second streaming channel, the client media receiver monitors for additional channel change requests over a predetermined wait period. If an additional channel change request is received within the wait period, the client media receiver repeats the step of monitoring. Conversely, if an additional channel change request is not received with the wait period, the client media receiver sends a channel reprioritization command to the streaming media server to prioritize the second streaming channel over the first streaming channel in continued transmission of the streaming channel bundle.

Disclosed are a smart TV controlling method and a smart TV thereof, the method including: determining currently running UI; obtaining key controlling policy for the currently running UI according to pre-stored mapping between UI and key controlling policy, the key controlling policy indicating adjustment for UI controlling keys; generating controlling instruction according to received key information sent from remote controlling device and key controlling policy for the currently running UI; and sending the controlling instruction to the currently running UI for the UI to perform operation associated with the controlling instruction. The key information sent from the remote controlling device is adaptable to different UIs according to different key controlling policies of different UIs, allowing operations associated with key information be adapted to the requirements of different UIs, so that appropriate adjustments are made to the current running UI according to the user's needs.
