Centrifugal pump with governor actuated seal
The present invention relates to centrifugal pumps, and more specifically to a centrifugal pump device with a governor actuated cartridge seal and a method of attaching a centrifugal pump device with a governor actuated cartridge seal. The centrifugal pump comprises a sealing system that prevents undesirable fluid leaking or air ingestion when in operation while allowing ease of installation and maintenance. The governor actuated cartridge seal automatically increases sealing capabilities by urging a movable seal as a function of impeller or engine drive shaft rotational speed. The governors actuate radially so as to present a minimal profile and therefore not introduce a safety hazard. Scalable weights attached to the governors allow predictable calibration and initialization of the pump under varying hydraulic pressures and rotational speeds.
Method of manufacturing engine valve intermediate product with boss portion
A method of manufacturing an engine valve intermediate product with a boss portion formed in integral fashion at an outer circumferential surface at an intermediate location on a stem forming portion. The manufacturing method may comprise a stem retaining operation in which an intermediate location of the stem forming portion is retained by a plurality of intermediate jigs removably installable radially with respect to a center of the stem forming portion, and a base end portion is retained by a base end jig. The manufacturing method may further comprise a stem enlarging operation in which compressive forces are applied from both ends of the intermediate product and the boss portion is formed as the intermediate product is made to rotate and alternating loads that cause tensile forces and compressive forces to act in repeated and alternating fashion at the outer circumferential surface of the stem forming portion are applied.

Method for manufacturing engine poppet valve
A method for manufacturing an engine poppet valve comprising a valve head portion manufacturing operation in which hot forging is employed to form a stem/head intermediate product; a stepped stem portion manufacturing operation in which cold drawing is employed to cause a stepped stem portion comprising a first stem portion which has been made to be of decreased diameter, a step portion which has been formed by a stem member inlet surface, and a second stem portion in which there is absence of decrease in diameter and which is continuous by way of the step portion with the first stem portion to be formed from an intermediate stem portion; and a joining operation in which a stem end portion having a same outside diameter as the first stem portion is joined to a base end portion of the first stem portion.
ALKY-ONE GASKET
A method is provided for forming a gasket for sealing opposing flange surfaces of a pipe having corrosive fluid flowing therethrough. The method comprises defining a gasket profile incorporating a serrated profile core having a flange extending radially inward therefrom. A deformable pillow extends radially inward from the serrated profile core, to define a gasket intermediate portion about the flange, and a gasket inner portion radially inward from the flange. The deformable pillow material and thickness are selected such that upon compression to a thickness no less than the core thickness, the gasket inner portion exhibits a stress level sufficient to preclude corrosive liquid flowing through the pipe from passing radially outward beyond the gasket inner portion, and the gasket intermediate portion exhibits a stress level sufficient to preclude gas and liquid flowing through the pipe from passing radially outward beyond the gasket intermediate portion.

Precision forming method of high-efficiency and near-net hollow valve blank of engine
A precision forming method of a high-efficiency and near-net hollow valve blank of an engine is provided, wherein the precision performing is realized by the cross wedge rolling mold, under the rolling the metal tubing for the valve deforms, with a middle part sunken and two ends elongating, the middle part forms a stem part of a hollow valve, the two ends form disk parts to be machined, and the connection sections between the disk parts and the stem part form neck parts having arced concave faces and a frustoconical lateral face in structure, achieving better consistency among the acquired hollow valve blanks. The disk part of each acquired hollow valve preformed blank is machined by the die-forging forming mold that is matched with the disk structure of the manufactured hollow valve, the hollow valve preformed blank is directly placed in the cavities of the die-forging forming mold for forging.

Ball plunger for use in a hydraulic lash adjuster and method of making same
A method of cold-forming a ball plunger blank includes providing a slug having a generally cylindrical surface extending between a first end and a second end, transferring the slug to a first forming station, at the first forming station forming an indentation in at least one of the first and second ends, and rotating the slug and transferring the slug to a second forming station. The method further includes extruding a first bore through the first end while simultaneously forming a hemispherical surface at the second end, backward extruding a second bore at the first end, and forming a counterbore in the second end.
