PLANAR COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A sheetlike composite material including at least one layer A of a nonwoven thermoplastic fiber web or a thermoplastic film, and at least two unidirectional oriented-fiber layers B and B′, the layers B and B′ having a bidirectional fiber orientation. The layers are not only needled but also stitched to one another.
Matting system
Improved containment mats and systems of containment mats may include multiple adjoining mats with a top surface and a bottom surface. The multiple mats may provide a modular structural mat system that may be installed at a drill site, with multiple mats placed adjacent to each other with a lap joint connecting adjacent mats. A geotextile may be used to cover the lap joints and a coating applied to the geotextile. Such a system may provide containment of potential spills, a reliable working surface for drilling operations, and relatively fast and less expensive installation.
Method for making an intermediate reinforcing material consisting of an array of spaced-apart yarns/webs
The present invention relates especially to an intermediate material comprising, or even constituted exclusively by, an array of individualised ribbons, each ribbon being composed by a tape of unidirectional reinforcing fibres associated, by adhesion, on each of its faces with a veil of thermoplastic fibres, characterised in that the ribbons are disposed in successive layers, in such a way that the ribbons of two successive layers are superposed with or without crossing but without interlacement, the bond between a ribbon and the ribbon or ribbons with which it is superposed being ensured by adhesion, and in that in each layer the ribbons are disposed substantially parallel to each other over at least the major part of their length, while being independent and spaced from each other and in that the ribbons of at least two layers extend in two different directions.
Light-permeable multi-layer composite film
Light-permeable multilayer composite film made of plastic as the surface coating of an article, wherein the composite film comprises at least one outer, at least partially light-permeable top layer optionally provided with a lacquer and at least one further layer arranged on the back of the top layer, wherein arranged on the back side of the top layer is at least one sheetlike, optically active textile layer, preferably a textile layer comprising threads made of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and/or made of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF), wherein the textile layer has light-transmitting, light-refracting and light-reflecting properties or a combination thereof and the transmission, refraction and reflection properties are such that illumination of the textile layer, in particular back side illumination of the textile layer, results in preferably uniformized light transmission through the top layer.
Composite panels usefully employed in anti-ballistic products and methods to make the same
Composite panel comprising at least one layer containing at least one tape comprising a thermoplastic polymer selected from the group consisting of polyolefins, polyesters, polyvinyl alcohols, polyacrylonitriles, polyamides or polyketone, wherein the tape has a tensile strength of at least 1.2 GPa and an areal density of between 5 and 150 g/m.sup.2, and an adhesive in contact with said layer, whereby the amount of the adhesive in contact with one side of the at least one layer is between 0.2 and 15 g/m.sup.2, wherein the adhesive is a plastomer wherein said plastomer is a random copolymer of ethylene or propylene and one or more C.sub.2 to C.sub.12 a-olefin co-monomers and wherein said plastomer has a density as measured according to 1801183 of between 860 and 930 kg/m.sup.3. In a preferred embodiment the tape comprises an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. The composite panel is used in a ballistic resistant article.

Method of making form, fill, and seal bags
A method is provided of making form fill and seal (FFS) bag formed at least in part from an open mesh material that includes filaments that intersect one another. At least some of the filaments are composite filaments having a carrier portion of a relatively high melting point and a bonding portion of a relatively low melting point, the bonding portion of each composite filament being thermally bonded to other filaments at points of intersection. The material may be a non-woven fabric that contains at least two layers of weft filaments that may be bordered on one or both sides by a layer of warp filaments. When compared to other open mesh materials, the open mesh material disclosed herein has a superior combination of some or all of high strength, light weight, high dimensional stability, and openness.
Industrial fabric comprising an extruded mesh and method of making thereof
A structure for use in industrial fabrics such as paper machine clothing and engineered fabrics. The structure is a bicomponent extruded elastomeric netting or mesh having a high degree of both compressibility under an applied normal load and excellent recovery (resiliency or spring back) upon removal of that load.
