Ink film constructions
An ink film construction consisting: (a) a printing substrate; and (b) at least one ink film, fixedly adhered to a top surface of the printing substrate, the ink film having an upper film surface distal to the top surface of the substrate, wherein a surface concentration of nitrogen at the upper film surface exceeds a bulk concentration of nitrogen within the film, the bulk concentration measured at a depth of at least 30 nanometers below the upper film surface, and wherein a ratio of the surface concentration to the bulk concentration is at least 1.1 to 1.
Multi-layer zirconia dental blank that has a gradual change in strength, translucency and chroma from one direction to the other after sintering
A zirconia sintered body comprises zirconia and multiple different areas, including at least one upper area and at least one lower area having a different chemical composition and a different strength. The sintered body has a translucency and a strength with an inverse relationship. The translucency increases in one direction across the multiple different areas and the strength decreasing in the same direction across the multiple different areas. At least part of the sintered body has a total light transmittance of at least 35% and less than 53% to light with a wavelength at least at a point between 400 nm and 600 nm, and at least 51% and less than 57% to light with a wavelength at least at a point between 600 nm and 800 nm, at a thickness of 0.6 mm. At least a part of the sintered body has a strength of at least 925 Mpa.
Ink composition for liquid jet printing
Non-aqueous ink composition for liquid ink jet printing including: a vehicle comprising one or more organic solvent(s) liquid at ambient temperature, or one or more organic compound(s) solid at ambient temperature and liquid at the projection temperature; one or more dye(s) and/or pigment(s); a binder, comprising at least one binding resin consisting of a copolymer of vinylidene chloride and of at least one other monomer, in solution at ambient temperature in the organic solvent(s) or in solution at the projection temperature in the organic compound(s). A method for marking substrates, supports or objects includes projection onto the substrates, supports or objects of the ink composition by a liquid ink jet printing technique. A substrate, support or object, particularly flexible substrate, is provided with a marking obtained by drying and/or absorption of the composition.
Dissolvable ink-support sheet material
A sheet material for use as a dissolvable decal comprises a dissolvable paper or polymer layer whose dissolvability in water is enhanced using a temporary water barrier. In one embodiment, the sheet material comprises a dissolvable paper stock layer coated with the temporary water barrier layer in the form of an acrylate polymer. To create the decal, one or more ink layers are applied, either on top of the temporary water barrier, or between the temporary water barrier and a top face of the dissolvable paper stock. The sheet material also comprises a removable release liner comprising a sheet with a silicone release coating on one side. In use, the paper/plastic liner is removed and the resulting decal is then positioned on a vehicle. The decal remains on the vehicle, but it is ultimately removable under high pressure water conditions.
Coating composition
A barrier coating composition may include an alcohol-based binder and an inorganic particulate. The barrier coating composition may be used in various ways, including in paper products including the barrier composition, methods of preparing the paper products, articles, particularly food grade packaging formed from the paper products, and packaged products, particularly packaged foodstuffs including the packaging.
Melamine decorative board
Provided is a melamine decorative board having a milky-white core layer and less warpage. When the melamine decorative board is bonded onto a base plate such as a plywood, a particle board, and a steel board, a color tone of the base plate does not appear through to a decorative layer. Stacked and thermal-pressure-formed are: a resin-impregnated patterned paper as the decorative layer; multiple sheets of a resin-impregnated core paper, as the core layer, produced by impregnating a whitish fibrous base material with a resin liquid including: a condensate of melamine and formaldehyde, and a divalent polyalkylene glycol or a derivative thereof, or a tri- or more valent polyalkylene glycol polyvalent ether, and drying the whitish fibrous base material; and a resin-impregnated backside paper, as a backside layer, produced by impregnating a fibrous base material with a condensate of melamine and formaldehyde and drying the fibrous base material.
Methods of making paper and labels
Paper is disclosed for use in making repositionable or removable adhesive labels. The adhesive can be applied in patches or discrete areas to the paper or to a layer of material that cleans rollers in the manufacturing line and/or in printers. The adhesive can be applied in single or multiple layers. The paper is light weight paper and preferably thermal paper for use in POS printers.
Printable coating
A primer-less coating composition for facestock comprises: a binder being a water-dispersible polymer; an ethylenically unsaturated compound which is aqueous-dispersible and miscible with or bonded to said water-dispersible polymer, wherein said ethylenically unsaturated compound is able to form a covalent bond with an ink; and a crosslinker, wherein said crosslinker is suitable for binding the coating to the facestock. The coating composition may be applied to a substrate to form a printable film. A printed film in accordance with the invention may be used in a label, for example for use on a container such as a bottle.
Ultraviolet printing with luminosity control
Disclosed herein are printable compositions that include a UV-A blocking compound, wherein the composition is free of colorants that are visible under white light or UV light. Also disclosed herein are images formed by printing the printable composition on a substrate surface, wherein the substrate surface includes one or more Uv fluorescent materials on at least a portion thereof. Also disclosed herein are methods of forming an image on a substrate including printing a selected amount of the printable composition on top of a UV fluorescent material.
