Systems and methods for unraveling braids of real/natural hair and/or synthetic braid extensions, or a combination thereof, work from the bottom of the braid up using one or more tines automated to repetitively penetrate the braid and pull through and down it to unravel it. The systems and methods may unravel braid/entanglements faster than could otherwise be done manually by hand.

A needle apparatus for pulling loose hair into existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair includes a flexible needle-eye and a needle-tip. The needle-tip includes a rigid member and an eye interface. The flexible needle-eye being configured into a continuous loop so that loose hair can be trapped with the needle apparatus. The eye interface is terminally positioned about the rigid member so that the flexible needle-eye can be terminally connected to the rigid member by the eye interface. The rigid member is then inserted through the existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair so that the flexible needle-eye is able to pull loose hair back into the existing braids, cornrows, dreads, or any other hair styles with tightly pulled hair.

A hair extension sectioning apparatus includes a unitary body having a horizontal platform with parallel vertical protrusions forming slots between the protrusions. An adjacent guide panel also extends vertically from the platform. A unitary slotted depth selection plate is mounted to the body. The depth selection plate has parallel slats extending between two arms forming slots that fit the vertical protrusions. The perimeter of the plate has lever tabs that extend horizontally beyond the housing. A housing with a top panel extending between parallel sidewalls is mounted on the body. A method of preparing hair extensions for braiding includes removing the housing; adjusting the depth selection plate to a position identified using the guide panel; and distributing a bundle of hair extensions into the slots. The apparatus does the prep work for a braider, speeding up the process, making it more efficient and ensuring consistency.

A novel form of assembly is disclosed which assist user in untwining hair braids. A motorized handheld braiding assembly braids or weaves hair. The hair is selectively retained and carried in three adjacent hair retention heads. The hair retention heads securely fasten, and release the hair through one-handed operation. The hair retention heads are carried along a figure-8 pathway that creates a unique braiding pattern. The hair retention heads are carried on two rotating discs that rotate 360° in opposite directions. A hair clip on each hair retention head is height adjustable to fasten and release the lock of hair. The discs have three equally spaced slots that are radially disposed on an outer perimeter surface. The rotational motion of the discs carries each hair retention head in a revolution while fitted in the slot of the first disc, and then slidably passes each hair retention head on to a slot in the second disc where the rotation continues in the opposite direction.
