CLAMPING TOOL HOLDER
A clamping tool holder includes a tool holder body and a clamp for clamping a cutting insert. The clamp causes the cutting insert to press against the bottom and the side walls of an insert-receiving pocket of the tool holder body. The tool holder body has an inclined surface sloping inward in a direction away from the insert-receiving pocket. The clamp has an inclined surface that acts as a ramp with the inclined surface of the tool holder body. When a clamp screw is tightened, a nub of the clamp engages an inside rearward surface of a mounting bore of the insert with face contact and a contact pad engages a top surface of the cutting insert. As a result, the clamp exerts a force downward and rearward force on the insert. In one aspect, the nub has a polygonal cross-sectional shape.
Tool body
A tool body to which a replaceable cutting insert is fixed includes: a holder: an insert mounting seat that is provided on a first surface of the holder; a clamp member that constrains the cutting insert placed on the insert mounting seat; and an operating member that presses a pressure receiving surface of the clamp member. The clamp member has the pressure receiving surface, a spherical head portion that is formed into a spherical crown shape, and a hook portion that protrudes to a side opposite to a side of the spherical head portion when seen from a side of the first surface. The insert mounting seat supports the clamp member to be swingable with the spherical head portion as a fulcrum, and the hook portion contacts a diameter reducing portion that is formed on an inner peripheral surface of an mounting hole for the cutting insert in a state in which the pressure receiving surface is pressed.
RETAINING MEMBER AND CUTTING TOOL
The boundary flow path is constituted of a pair of boundary wall surfaces facing each other in a first cross section intersecting each of the first flow path, the boundary flow path, and the second flow path. An inclination of a tangent to at least one of the pair of boundary wall surfaces is continuously changed. In a second cross section perpendicular to a direction in which coolant flows, a lateral width of the first flow path is larger than a longitudinal width of the first flow path and a lateral width of the second flow path is larger than a longitudinal width of the second flow path when a longitudinal direction represents a direction in which the pair of boundary wall surfaces face each other and a lateral direction represents a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal direction.
Cutting tool assembly having clamp assembly comprising a clamp and a coolant plate
A clamp assembly to secure a cutting insert to a holder that includes a clamp that has a distal end and a clamp projection depending from the distal end of the clamp. There is a coolant plate that has a top plate surface and a bottom plate surface wherein the top plate surface contains a recess that receives the clamp projection upon assembly of the clamp and the coolant plate. The bottom plate surface contains a bowl having an open bowl end wherein in operation the bowl directs coolant through the open bowl end toward the cutting insert. The assembly has a positioner extending between the clamp and the coolant plate so as to maintain a position of the clamp relative to the coolant plate upon the assembly of the clamp and the coolant plate.
Tool system
Tool system 1 comprising a tool holder 2 that has an insert seat 17 for receiving a cutting insert 6, and comprising a clamping element 4 that has an opening 26 for receiving a clamping means 15, an interface 30 being arranged between the tool holder 2 and the clamping element 4, and channels for the purpose of cooling by means of a fluid being arranged in the tool holder 2 and the clamping element 4, and a sealing means 31 being arranged in the region of the interface 30.
TOOL BODY, INSERT SUPPORT MECHANISM AND CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool has an insert receiving pocket provided with a base surface. The base surface has a screw hole, and second and third engagement surfaces which are brought into contact with a first engagement surface formed in the lower surface of the cutting insert, thereby suppressing shifting of the cutting insert during cutting. The base surface is divided into four areas by a first boundary which passes through the screw hole's center point, and a second boundary is perpendicular to the first boundary and also passing though the center point. The second engagement part is formed on the outer side surface side relative to the first boundary and on the base end side relative to the second boundary, and the third engagement part is formed on the outer side surface side relative to the first boundary and on the leading end surface side relative to the second boundary.
Cutting tool holder
A cutting tool holder according to one embodiment supports a cutting insert including a rake face, a flank face, and a cutting edge. The cutting tool holder according to one embodiment includes: a holder body having a seat face on which the cutting insert is placed; a pressing member that positions and fixes the cutting insert to the holder body; and a fixing member that fixes the pressing member to the holder body. The pressing member has: a front end portion close to the cutting edge; and a base end portion distant away from the cutting edge. The front end portion is provided with a first coolant ejection hole. A first flow path is provided inside the holder body. A coolant reservoir and a second flow path are provided inside the pressing member.
TOOL FOR CHIP REMOVING MACHINING AND A KIT FOR A TOOL FOR CHIP REMOVING MACHINING
A tool for chip removing machining includes a tool body having at least one insert seat that accommodates a cutting insert having a top and a bottom surface. The tool body secures the cutting insert in the insert seat by an attachment member, and the insert seat has a bottom surface and at least one side surface. The tool includes at least one assembling aid, which is provided at least at one insert seat and which includes a clamping section and a mounting section. The clamping section extends above the bottom surface of the insert seat for, when the cutting insert is accommodated in the insert seat, engaging the top surface of the cutting insert. The clamping section is biased towards the bottom surface of the insert seat and the mounting section is attached to the tool body. A kit includes the tool, a shim and the assembling aid.
CUTTING TOOL
A cutting tool for turning and/or boring operations can include a holder, a replaceable insert supported by the holder in a cutting position, and a clamp releasably coupled to the holder and configured to bear against the insert to retain the insert in the cutting position. The clamp can be releasably coupled to the holder without a threaded fastener.
