Laminating thin strengthened glass to curved molded plastic surface for decorative and display cover application

A process comprises cold-forming a flat glass substrate into a non-planar shape using a die. The cold-formed glass substrate is bonded to a non-planar rigid support structure at a plurality of non-planar points using the die. Bonding methods include injection molding the non-planar rigid support structure, and direct bonding. An article is also provided, comprising a cold-formed glass substrate having opposing major surfaces and a curved shape, the opposing major surfaces comprising a surface stress that differ from one another. The cold-formed glass substrate is attached to a rigid support structure having the curved shape. The cold-formed glass substrate includes an open region not in direct contact with the non-planar rigid support structure, and the open region has a curved shape maintained by the non-planar rigid support structure.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING FIBRE-REINFORCED PLASTIC PARTS, AND FIXING BY MEANS OF A DOUBLE-SIDED ADHESIVE LAYER

In a method for producing fiber-reinforced plastic parts in a mold and an adhesive layer for carrying out the method, the adhesive layer adhesive force on the mold is greater than the adhesive layer adhesive force on the segment, so that, after a first segment is removed, the adhesive layer remains completely in the mold and after the temperature of the adhesive layer is increased through contact with a melted plastic matrix, the remaining adhesive force is sufficient to adhere at least a second segment. The adhesive layer, introduced into the mold relatively expensively, and removed from the mold and disposed of at further expense, is used repeatedly, not just for a single adhesion operation. The expense for procuring the adhesive layer, its introduction into the mold, removal and disposal remains but through its division over numerous production operations, the total expenditure proportion for each operation decreases dramatically.

An injection-moulded piece that has a plastic base layer, a transparent or translucent cover layer, and a layer containing individual decorative elements located between the base and cover layers. The decorative elements are at least partly embedded both in the cover layer and in the base layer. The method for producing the injection-moulded piece, wherein decorative elements are placed on a sticky cover layer and a base layer is applied to the decorative elements by injection moulding. The individual decorative elements are applied to the sticky surface of the cover layer, by a random process, and if required, a second cover layer is applied, the decorative elements are at least partly embedded in the cover layer, waiting for the cover layer to dry, and a base layer is applied to the decorative elements by injection moulding so that the base layer embeds the remaining part of the decorative elements.
