A method for joining at least two plastic parts (1, 5) along a predeterminable common joining point using infrared radiation (IR), is characterized in that each of the plastic parts (1, 5) to be joined is heated using infrared radiation at least along the joint by radiation sources without touching the respective plastic parts (1, 5). One radiation source is operated independently and spatially separated from the other radiation source. The radiation sources emit their respective infrared radiation to the respective plastic parts (1, 5) without contact and following the contour of the joint. The degree of heating by the respective infrared radiation is selected such that the joint is formed when the plastic parts (1, 5) are brought together.

There is described a method for forming a tube (3) of a web (4, 4) of packaging material comprising the steps of advancing the web (4) of packaging material along a web advancement path (P), overlapping a first lateral edge (19) of the web (4, 4′) of packaging material with a second lateral edge (20) of the web (4, 4) of packaging material for obtaining a longitudinal seam portion of the tube (3) and fusing at least an internal outer surface (34) of the first lateral edge (19) and an external outer surface (37) of the second lateral edge (20) with one another for longitudinally sealing the seam portion of the tube (3). The step of fusing comprises at least the substeps of directly heating the external outer surface (37) of the second lateral edge (20) and heating by contact the internal outer surface (34) by establishing contact between the internal outer surface (34) and the directly heated external outer surface (37).

The invention relates to a method for producing strapping. A strapping band (4) is first guided about at least one packaging piece, tightened, and equipped with a closure at band ends (4a, 4b) to be connected in a closure unit (1). Furthermore, at least one sensor (7) connected to a control unit (8) is provided in the closure unit (1). One or more closure parameters are detected by means of the control unit (8) using the sensor (7), and the closure unit (1) is correspondingly actuated. According to the invention, the sensor (7) is designed as a load cell (7) which is let into a compression ram (6a, 6b) of the closure unit (1).

The process introduces at least one first heating element and at least one second heating element along mutually offset planes between the two thinner thermoplastic sheets, where the surfaces of the thinner thermoplastic sheets do not touch the surfaces of the heating elements. The first heating element transfers a quantity of energy (E1) to the surface of the first thinner thermoplastic sheet, and the second heating element transfers a quantity of energy (E2) to the surface of the second thinner thermoplastic sheet, where the quantity of energy (E1) is smaller than the quantity of energy (E2).
