SUPPORTING SYSTEM FOR A FLOATING UNIT IN SHALLOW OR VERY SHALLOW WATER
20180001976 · 2018-01-04 ·

A supporting system for a floating unit in shallow water exerts controlled stresses on the floating unit hull and includes supporting structure for the hull. An extendable supporting device operatively connects to the supporting structure and is suitable to support a predetermined weight of the floating unit and load when entirely supported by the extendable supporting device and when the extendable supporting device rests on a bed of a water body. An actuator device connects to the supporting structure and operatively connects to the extendable supporting device for extension or contraction. A control device operatively connects to the actuator device to control the extraction or contraction movement of the extendable supporting device. The system includes at least one hull stress monitoring device operatively connected to the control device. A device to monitor the stress, or load, on the extendable supporting device operatively connects to the control device.

Mooring line connector assembly and tensioner

A mooring line connector assembly (1) and a corresponding tensioner (28) are described. The mooring line connector assembly (1) comprises complementary male (2) and female (3) connectors, wherein the male connector (2) is rigid and the female connector (3) is connectable to the male connector (2) at a plurality of points along its length, so as to vary the tension applied to the mooring line. Locking balls engageable with grooves disposed along the length of the male connector (2) can allow the female connector to connect at different points along the male connector. A tensioner (28) allows the tension to be adjusted. The tensioner includes a first part (29) arranged to engage with the male connector (2) and a second part (29) arranged to engage with the female connector (3). The first part (29) reciprocates relative to the second part so as to move the male connector (2) relative to the female connector and thereby change the point at which the female connector is connected to the male connector.

FLOATABLE OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE
20230219661 · 2023-07-13 · ·

The application relates to a floatable offshore wind turbine with at least one floatable foundation. The floatable foundation includes at least one floating body. The floatable offshore wind turbine includes at least one anchoring arrangement configured to fix the offshore wind turbine to an underwater ground while the offshore wind turbine is in its anchoring state. Further, the floatable offshore wind turbine includes at least one height adjustment device configured to change the vertical distance of the floatable foundation to an underwater ground surface of the underwater ground and/or to a water surface during the anchoring state based on at least one specific meteorological environmental parameter of the offshore wind turbine.

STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS SYSTEM AND SUPPORT PLATFORM MADE USING INFORMATION GENERATED BY SAME

Systems, devices and methods enable generation and monitoring of support platform structural conditions in a manner that overcomes drawbacks associated with conventional approaches (e.g., load cells) for generating and monitoring similar operating condition information. In preferred embodiments, such systems, devices and methods utilize fiber optic strain gauges (i.e., fiber optic sensors) in place of (e.g., retrofit/data replacement) or in combination with conventional load cells. The fiber optic sensors are strategically placed at a plurality of locations on one or more support bodies of a support platform. In preferred embodiments, the fiber optic strain gauges are placed in positions within a hull and/or one or more pontoons of an offshore platform. Such positions are selected whereby resulting operating condition data generated by the fiber optic strain gauges suitably replaces data received by conventionally constructed and located load cells of an offshore platform (e.g., a TLP).

SUBSEA ASSEMBLY MODULARIZATION

A foundation for a subsea assembly is provided. The foundation includes connection points. The connection points permit other components to be connected to the foundation and permit loads to transfer from the other components into the foundation. The foundation may be a suction anchor. A method of converting an exploration well using the foundation to a production well is also provided.

Generation of Electrical Power Offshore

A floating power-generation group comprises a floating hub such as a spar buoy that is anchored to subsea foundations by anchor lines. Floating power producer units such as wind turbines are connected electrically and mechanically to the hub. The power producer units are each moored by mooring lines. At least one mooring line extends inwardly toward the hub to effect mechanical connection to the hub and at least one other mooring line extends outwardly toward a subsea foundation. The groups are combined as a set whose hubs are connected electrically to each other via subsea energy storage units. Anchor lines of different groups can share subsea foundations. The storage units comprise pumping machinery to expel water from an elongate storage volume and generating machinery to generate electricity from a flow of water entering the storage volume. The pumping machinery may be in deeper water than the generating machinery.
