VEHICLE BRAKE SYSTEM
A vehicle brake system, comprising: a brake pad (10), being moveable between a braking position and a retracted position, a piston device (20) which is moveable over an operational stroke to move the brake pad from the retracted position into the braking position, which piston device comprises a first engagement surface (25), a retractor (30) which is adapted to move the piston device over a return stroke, thereby moving the brake pad from the braking position into the retracted position, a stop (40) which is in engagement with the first engagement surface (25) of the piston device (20) at the end of the return stroke, which stop (40) is arranged to prevent movement of the first engagement surface 825) past the stop in the direction of the return stroke, and wherein the stop (40) is moveable by the piston device (20) in the direction of the operational stroke of the piston device.

The present application relates to a piston assembly for engaging two selectively engageable parts. The piston assembly has a housing defining a piston cylinder and a piston. The assembly also has a piston stroke limiter. The piston stroke limiter is configured to limit the length of a return stroke of the piston from an extended stroke position and a retracted stroke position. A crushable body acts between the piston and the piston stroke limiter and is arranged to reduce in axial length when a length of an extended stroke exceeds a length of a retraction stroke to maintain the length of the return stroke.
Slack adjuster for a brake system
A slack adjuster for use with a braking system which has an increased let-out length that enables the use of brake shoes having an increased thickness. The slack adjuster includes a dual spring and canister assembly, an external yoke trigger, or a combination of both the dual spring and canister assembly and the external yoke trigger. A method of retrofitting a truck-mounted brake system is provided, in which the slack adjuster is positioned within the brake system in order to increase the let-out length while maintaining a predetermined spatial envelope within the brake system. The slack adjuster has an increased let-out length enabling the use of thicker brake shoes without requiring modification of the interacting components of the truck mounted brake system since the overall size of the slack adjuster remains the same.
CRUSHABLE BODY FOR POSITION ADJUSTMENT
The present application relates to crushable body in the form of a corrugated thin walled tube e.g. for use in a piston assembly for engaging two selectively engageable parts. The piston assembly has a housing defining a piston cylinder and a piston. The assembly also has a piston stroke limiter. The piston stroke limiter is configured to limit the length of a return stroke of the piston from an extended stroke position and a retracted stroke position. A crushable body in the form of a corrugated thin walled tube acts between the piston and the piston stroke limiter and is arranged to reduce in axial length when a length of an extended stroke exceeds a length of a retraction stroke to maintain the length of the return stroke.

An adjusting device is disclosed for adjusting friction surface wear on brake linings and a brake disk of a disk brake. The adjusting device is couplable to a brake application device on the drive side, and to a spindle unit of the disk brake on the output side. The adjusting device includes a drive element on both sides of which a rolling element assembly is axially arranged; a pressure element; an output element coupled to the pressure element for coupling to a coupling wheel; an energy storage element; and a support body, one end of which is connected to a bearing plate and around which the drive element, the rolling element assemblies, the output element and the energy storage element are arranged axially in series with the bearing plate. The energy storage element is arranged between a bearing portion of the support body and the pressure element.

Friction lining assembly having a restoring spring for limiting clearance for a motor-vehicle partially lined disk brake
A friction lining assembly having a backing plate and a sheet metal restoring spring fixed thereto, for a partially lined sliding-caliper type disk brake having a brake holder fixed with respect to the vehicle, on which friction lining assemblies arranged on both sides of a brake disk are slidably guided. A housing, which extends over the brake disk and the friction lining assemblies, is slidably mounted on the brake holder. The restoring spring is clamped axially between the brake holder and the friction lining assembly by at least one spring leg and applies a release clearance to the friction lining assembly. The spring leg extends over a hammer-head-shaped claw of the backing plate. The spring leg is plastically deformable in a defined manner under braking actuation as a result of a reduction in the friction-material thickness in order to impose a constantly dimensioned release clearance on the friction lining assembly.

MOTOR VEHICLE DISC BRAKE LINING WITH FRICTION LINING RESETTING SPRING
A motor vehicle disc brake lining having friction material fixed on the front side of a back plate, and a resetting spring fixed releasably or non-releasably on the rear side of the back plate with a base and an elastic resetting spring bow. The resetting spring bow sits elastically on an assigned abutment of a holder such that the motor vehicle disc brake lining can be reset to be axially distanced from a brake disc in the released brake state. The friction lining resetting spring has a spring characteristic curve which is additively composed of a plurality of portions including a plurality of quasi-linear straight portions and, interposed in-between, at least one curved transition portion, each having mutually differently defined gradient angles, and among the portions there is at least one portion which is at least partially plastically deformable and serves to automatically allow demand-oriented spring-back based on wear compensation.
Automatic Slack Adjuster Torque Limiting Link
A self-adjusting automatic slack adjuster for reducing slack in the brake of a vehicle includes an adjuster link having a resilient portion. When a brake application force being applied to the slack adjuster exceeds a level that could result in brake application linkage damage as a result of the slack adjuster's slack adjustment mechanism having reached a travel limit, the resilient portion of the adjuster link permits the axial length of the adjuster link to change to accommodate the high brake application force in order to minimize or preclude damage to the brake application linkage.
