An inspection device and method produces a deformation in a panel body and reveals a defect in the panel body. A base and a collar define a chamber. A vacuum device connects with the chamber for evacuating the chamber after the panel body is positioned adjacent to the collar and deflects the panel body into the chamber for propagating the defect in the panel body.

According to an example aspect of the present invention, there is provided a method, comprising: controlling suction with predetermined force in a known measurement area to a moving cardboard or paper web in a manufacturing process, detecting on-line measurement information on deviation of the moving cardboard or paper web in the manufacturing process caused by the suction with predetermined force in the known measurement area, and determining elastic modulus of the moving cardboard or paper web in the manufacturing process on the basis of the measured deviation.

A testing apparatus for applying a test load to a specimen, comprises a cradle and a test bed supported on the cradle. The test bed has a chamber which receives a specimen and is hermetically sealed with the specimen received inside. There is a vacuum source in communication with the chamber. The vacuum source provides vacuum pressure to the chamber, thereby applying a uniform load to the specimen.
