System and method for operating an electrical switch
A switch including a first electrical terminal, the first electrical terminal including a blade pivotable between an open position and a closed position, and a rod extending from the first electrical terminal parallel to the blade. The switch further includes a second electrical terminal configured to receive the blade when in the closed position, the second electrical terminal including a vacuum interrupter, wherein the vacuum interrupter engages the rod when in the closed position. Rotating the first electrical terminal in a first direction causes the blade to disengage from the second electrical terminal at a first point, and further rotating the first electrical terminal in the first direction causes the rod to disengage from the vacuum interrupter at a second point.
HIGH VOLTAGE CENTER BREAK DISCONNECT SWITCH WITH TOGGLE DRIVE LOCKING MECHANISM
A high voltage center break disconnect switch with two rotatable switch blades each operatively attached to a respective rotatable insulator for opening and closing the switch. A toggle locking drive assembly including a two-sided lever having three pivot points colinearly aligned thereon and two drive links each connected at one end thereof to one of the three pivot points. The two-sided lever connects at the third pivot point to a perpendicularly attached rotating shaft operatively connected to a drive pipe for opening and closing the switch. The drive links are each connected at the other end to a pivot point of a respective one of two levers each operatively mounted to one of the rotatable insulators. When the switch is in the closed position the five pivot points of the locking toggle drive assembly are aligned colinearly in a toggle lock position preventing the switch from unintended opening.
Switch device
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a switch device, comprising: a first three-position switch; a second three-position switch disposed below the first three-position switch; a circuit breaker disposed between the first three-position switch and the second three-position switch. A first interlock unit is disposed above the circuit breaker and connected to the circuit breaker and the first three-position switch, and configured to block a manual operation of the first three-position switch in a closed state of the circuit breaker, and configured to block a manual closing operation of the circuit breaker while the first three-position switch is manually operated in an open state of the circuit breaker. A second interlock unit is disposed below the circuit breaker and connected to the circuit breaker and the second three-position switch, and is configured to block a manual operation of the second three-position switch in the closed state of the circuit breaker, and configured to block a manual closing operation of the circuit breaker while the second three-position switch is manually operated in the open state of the circuit breaker.
SOLID DIELECTRIC INSULATED SWITCHGEAR
A switchgear system operable at voltages up to 27 kV includes an enclosure containing atmospheric air and a loadbreak module disposed within the enclosure. The loadbreak module includes a loadbreak module housing made of a solid dielectric material, a vacuum interrupter enclosed within the loadbreak module housing and having a fixed contact and a movable contact, and an interchange electrically connected to the movable contact. The vacuum interrupter is operable to selectively break or establish an electrical pathway between the interchange and a terminal in response to movement of the movable contact relative to the fixed contact. The switchgear system further includes a bushing coupled to the enclosure and a disconnect switch electrically connected in series between the loadbreak module and the bushing. The disconnect switch includes a disconnect switch housing made of a solid dielectric material.
Universal vacuum interrupter for air disconnect switches
The invention relates to a universal vacuum interrupter (UVI) (30) for an air disconnect switch (100) comprising a rotatable actuating arm (21) arranged for engagement by a corresponding contact (16), such as a roller, attached to the main blade (12) of an air disconnect switch (100). In particular, the actuating arm (21) comprises two rods (22) extending next to each other and adapted for receiving the corresponding contact (16) of the main blade (12) between them. The two rods (22) are movable to alter the distance between them but are biased together by biasing means (24), e.g. helical springs. As the corresponding contact (16) of a main blade (12) will be in engagement with both rods (22) during disconnection and reconnection of the air disconnect switch (100), arcing is thereby prevented. Preferably, the two rods (22) of the UVI (30) are made of aluminium.
