A method of removing insulation from an electrical cable. The method includes: moving a cutting surface of the insulation cutting blade in a rotary direction relative to the insulation of the cable; cutting the insulation to a defined depth with the cutting surface of the insulation cutting blade as the insulation cutting blade is moved in the rotary direction, the defined depth being less than the thickness of the insulation; moving the cutting surface of insulation cutting blade in a radial direction relative to the insulation of the cable; and cutting the insulation from the defined depth with the cutting surface of the insulation cutting blade as the insulation cutting blade is moved in the radial direction. The entire thickness of the insulation is cut by the combination of the movement of the insulation cutting blade in the rotary direction and in the radial direction.

An apparatus for cable stripping and preparation. The apparatus includes a first drive mechanism and a second drive mechanism which is spaced from and in line with the first drive mechanism. Blade control arms with insulation cutting blades are movably mounted relative to the first drive mechanism and the second drive mechanism. The first drive mechanism moves the insulation cutting blades from a first position to a second position. The second drive mechanism rotates the insulation cutting blades when the insulation cutting blades are in the second position.

A device for stripping a cable is provided. The device includes an extraction chamber and a pusher mounted with an ability to move in the extraction chamber between a rest position and a deployed position. A distal end of the extraction chamber is closed by a flange including a slot. The pusher pushes on the cable in order to press the cable against the slot in the flange.

Techniques, systems and articles are described for preparing electrical cables for connections to a power grid. In one example, a system includes a cable preparation device configured to cut one or more layers of an electrical cable and a computing device configured to control the cable preparation device to cut the one or more layers of the electrical cable. The computing device may determine one or more target cutting distances and determine whether an actual cutting distance satisfies the target cutting distance. The computing device may detect defects in the electrical cable. The computing device may further determine whether the cable preparation device should be serviced.

A cutter for cutting a linear element includes a support frame, a pair of blade holders disposed opposite to each other and movably disposed on the support frame, a pair of blades facing each other and each disposed on one of the pair of blade holders, a pair of holding blocks facing each other and each disposed on one of the pair of blade holders, and a driving device disposed on the support frame. The driving device drives the pair of blade holders to move synchronously in a direction approaching each other or a direction separating away from each other. The pair of holding blocks clamp the linear element and the pair of blades cut off the linear element clamped by the pair of holding blocks while the pair of blade holders move synchronously in the direction approaching each other.

The invention concerns a cable stripping device, the device comprising at least:—an extraction chamber (2) of which a distal end is closed by a flange (7) comprising a groove (7), —a pusher (8) movably mounted in the extraction chamber between a rest position in which the pusher extends at a proximal end of the chamber and a deployed position, the pusher being intended to push on the cable in order to press it against the groove of the flange.

A method of removing insulation from an electrical cable. The entire thickness of the insulation is cut by the combination of the movement of the insulation cutting blade in the rotary direction and in the radial direction.

The invention relates to a stripping tool, in particular stripping pliers. The stripping tool is here used for a multi-wired cable. According to the invention two pairs of stripping blades are used in the stripping tool. The two pairs of stripping blades are moved in preferably parallel planes (60, 61) besides one another. According to the invention it is possible to simultaneously strip the insulations of e.g. four conductors of a four-wired cable.
