The transmission line is configured in such a manner that the inductance is adjustable.

An apparatus is disclosed for phase-shifting signals. In example implementations, the apparatus includes a phase shifter. The phase shifter includes a first port, a second port, a vector modulator coupled to the first port, and a signal phase generator. The signal phase generator includes multiple amplifiers coupled between the vector modulator and the second port. The signal phase generator also includes multiple capacitors that couple the multiple amplifiers together to form a loop. Each respective capacitor of the multiple capacitors is coupled between a respective pair of consecutive amplifiers of the multiple amplifiers to form the loop.

A distributed power amplifier includes radio frequency (RF) input and output terminals. A first field effect transistor (FET) is coupled at a first gate terminal to the RF input terminal and at a first drain terminal to the RF output terminal. The first FET has a first periphery and a first source terminal electrically connected to ground potential. A second FET has a second periphery smaller than the first periphery. The second FET has a second gate terminal electrically coupled to the first gate terminal through a first inductor, a second drain terminal electrically coupled to the first drain terminal through a second inductor, and a second source terminal electrically connected to the ground potential. A drain voltage terminal, which excludes a resistive element, is electrically coupled to a drain bias network through which a drain bias voltage is applied to the first drain terminal and the second drain terminal.

A distributed amplifier includes: a transmission line having an input end that an input signal is input to; a transmission line having an output end that an output signal is output from; an input termination resistor connected to an end terminal of the transmission line; a plurality of unit cells arranged along the transmission lines, and having input terminals connected to the transmission line and output terminals connected to the transmission line; and a variable current source having one end connected to the end terminal of the transmission line and another end connected to a power supply voltage, and capable of adjusting a current amount between the transmission line and the power supply voltage.

DC coupled amplifier having pre-driver and bias control

A dc coupled amplifier includes a pre-driver, and amplifier and a bias control circuit. The pre-driver is configured to receive one or more input signals and amplify the one or more input signals to create one or more pre-amplified signals. The amplifier has cascode configured transistors configured to receive and amplify the one or more pre-amplified signals to create one or more amplified signals, the amplifier further having an output driver termination element. The bias control circuit is connected between the pre-driver and the amplifier, the bias control circuit receiving at least one bias current from the output driver termination element of the amplifier, wherein the pre-driver, the amplifier and the bias control circuit are all formed on a same die.

Each impedance transformation network is an upward impedance transformation network for transforming an output impedance of each power cell at the input terminal of the impedance transformation network into a higher impedance at the output terminal of the impedance transformation network. The input terminal of the i-th power cell is connected to the second terminal of the i-th transmission line via a capacitor, where i=1, . . . n.

A dc coupled amplifier includes a pre-driver, and amplifier and a bias control circuit. The pre-driver is configured to receive one or more input signals and amplify the one or more input signals to create one or more pre-amplified signals. The amplifier has cascode configured transistors configured to receive and amplify the one or more pre-amplified signals to create one or more amplified signals, the amplifier further having an output driver termination element. The bias control circuit is connected between the pre-driver and the amplifier, the bias control circuit receiving at least one bias current from the output driver termination element of the amplifier, wherein the pre-driver, the amplifier and the bias control circuit are all formed on a same die.

SEQUENTIAL CONTINUOUS WIDEBAND AMPLIFIERS

A power amplifier arrangement (100) for amplifying an input signal (Pin) to produce an output signal (Pout) is disclosed. The amplifier arrangement (100) comprise an input port (IN) for receiving the input signal; an output transmission line (110) having a first terminal (111) and a second terminal (112); an output port (OUT) coupled to the second terminal (112) of the output transmission line (110) for providing the output signal; and a plurality N of amplifying devices (121, 122, . . . 12N) distributed along the output transmission line (110). The power amplifier arrangement (100) is configured such that the plurality N of amplifying devices are active sequentially for amplifying the input signal with increasing amplitude of the input signal.
