PULSED ELECTRIC MACHINE CONTROL
A variety of methods, controllers and electric machine systems are described that facilitate pulsed control of electric machines (e.g., electric motors and generators) to improve the machine's energy conversion efficiency. Under selected operating conditions, the electric machine is intermittently driven (pulsed). The pulsed operation causes the output of the electric machine to alternate between a first output level and a second output level that is lower than the first output level. The output levels are selected such that at least one of the electric machine and a system that includes the electric machine has a higher energy conversion efficiency during the pulsed operation than the electric machine would have when operated at a third output level that would be required to drive the electric machine in a continuous manner to deliver the desired output. In some embodiments, the second output level is zero torque.

Circuitry including at least a delta-sigma modulator and a sample-and-hold element
A circuitry for an incremental delta-sigma modulator includes at least an incremental delta-sigma modulator and a sample-and-hold element, the sample-and-hold element being arranged in front of the incremental delta-sigma modulator and providing an input voltage for the incremental delta-sigma modulator in the charged state, wherein the sample-and-hold element includes a capacitor for charging the input voltage for the incremental delta-sigma modulator, wherein a first switch is arranged in front of the capacitor, and a second switch is arranged behind the capacitor, wherein the first switch is open when the second switch is closed so as to provide, at the incremental delta-sigma modulator, an input voltage decreasing in amount, in particular a decaying input voltage, or wherein the second switch is open when the first switch is closed so as to charge the capacitor of the sample-and-hold element. In addition, a method of operating a circuitry for an incremental delta-sigma modulator is proposed.
Sigma-delta analogue to digital converter
A sigma-delta ADC comprising: a first-input-terminal configured to receive a first-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal; a second-input-terminal configured to receive a second-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal; an output-terminal configured to provide an output-digital-signal, wherein the output-digital-signal is representative of the difference between the first-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal and the second-high-voltage-analogue-input-signal. The sigma-delta ADC also includes a feedback-current-block, which comprises: a first-feedback-transistor having a conduction channel; a second-feedback-transistor having a conduction channel; a first-feedback-switch; a second-feedback-switch; a first-feedback-current-source; and a second-feedback-current-source.
System and method of calibration of sigma-delta converter using injected signal correlation
A digital conversion system including a sigma-delta converter, a signal generator providing a substantially symmetrical injection signal that is injected into the sigma-delta converter conversion path, bandpass filters for filtering the injection signal and the output of the sigma-delta converter, a correlator that correlates the filtered signals for providing an error signal, and a loop controller that uses the error signal to adjust a resonant frequency of the sigma-delta converter to output a target notch frequency. The loop controller may adjust a resonant frequency of a loop filter of the sigma-delta converter, in which the bandpass filters may each be centered at the target notch frequency at the output of the sigma-delta converter. The correlator may include a complex conjugate block, a multiplier and a mean calculator. The loop controller may include a converter and an amplifier and an integrator or a least-mean square block.
Series-connected delta-sigma modulator
A series-connected delta-sigma modulator (DSM) comprises a first DSM, configured to receive an input signal, comprising a first loop filter, configured to generate a first processed signal; and a first quantizer, coupled to the first loop filter, configured to generate a first quantized signal, and to feed back the first quantized signal to the first loop filter, wherein the first quantized signal comprises a clipping error smaller than a first predetermined value; and a second DSM, coupled to the first DSM, configured to receive the first quantized signal from the first DSM, comprising a second loop filter, configured to generate a second processed signal; and a second quantizer, coupled to the second loop filter, configured to generate a second quantized signal, and to feed back the second quantized signal to the second loop filter, wherein the second quantized signal comprises a quantization error smaller than a second predetermined value.
Digital filter, A/D converter, sensor processing circuit, and sensor system
A digital filter is used in an A/D converter and includes a first filter and second filter. The first filter outputs first digital data by performing filter processing on output of an A/D conversion unit included in the A/D converter. The second filter outputs second digital data by performing filter processing on the output of the A/D conversion unit. The second digital data has either a lower resolution or a smaller effective number of bits than the first digital data does. The second filter outputs the second digital data before the first filter outputs the first digital data.
DIGITAL FILTER FOR A DELTA-SIGMA ANALOG-TO-DIGITAL CONVERTER
An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) includes a modulator, an integrator circuit, and first and second differentiator circuits. The modulator has a modulator input and a modulator output. The modulator input is configured to receive an analog signal, and the modulator is configured to generate digital data on the modulator output. The integrator circuit has an integrator circuit input and an integrator output. The integrator input is coupled to the modulator output. The first differentiator circuit is coupled to the integrator output, and the first differentiator circuit is configured to be clocked with a first clock. The second differentiator circuit is coupled to the integrator output, and the second differentiator circuit configured to be clocked with a second clock. The second clock is out of phase with respect to the first clock.

DELTA-SIGMA MODULATOR
Provided is a delta-sigma modulator including a first integral unit configured to integrate an input analog signal, a second integral unit configured to integrate a signal output by the first integral unit, a quantizer configured to quantize a signal output by the second integral unit, a DA converter configured to perform DA conversion on an output of the quantizer and output a feedback signal to be fed back to the first integral unit, and a control unit configured to perform control to cause the first integral unit and the second integral unit to perform different integral operations during a first period and a second period, in which the second integral unit is configured to receive the feedback signal output by the DA converter via the first integral unit and integrate the feedback signal during the first period and the second period.
