A housing, for surface-mount technology (SMT), accepts any electronics package that is mounted on a circular substrate. The housing including the assembled electronics package forms an SMT housing assembly. The SMT housing assembly is placed directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB). The SMT housing assembly is soldered to the PCB using standard soldering techniques, establishing an electrical connection between the electronics package and the PCB.

Disclosed embodiments include folded, top-to-bottom interconnects that couple a die side of an integrated-circuit package substrate, to a board as a complement to a ball-grid array for a flip-chip-mounted integrated-circuit die on the die side. The folded, top-to-bottom interconnect is in a molded frame that forms a perimeter around an infield to receive at least one flip-chip IC die. Power, ground and I/O interconnections shunt around the package substrate, and such shunting includes voltage regulation that need not be routed through the package substrate.

An electronic device package includes a molded case and a plurality of leads. The molded case includes integrally formed side walls, end walls, and a top wall, the side walls, end walls and top wall defining an interior for receiving one or more electronic components. Each side wall includes a top portion, an intermediate portion, and a bottom portion. The top portion includes plate-like structure having first and second surfaces extending downward from the top wall. The intermediate portion includes a shelf structure having a shelf surface that extends from the first surface in a direction away from the interior, and a third surface extending downward from the shelf surface. The bottom portion extends downward from the intermediate portion. The leads are molded at least in part of the intermediate portion. Each lead has a first end portion exposed in the interior, and a second end portion extending along a bottom edge of the bottom portion.

An electronic device package includes a molded case and a plurality of leads. The molded case includes integrally formed side walls, end walls, and a top wall, the side walls, end walls and top wall defining an interior for receiving one or more electronic components. Each side wall includes a top portion, an intermediate portion, and a bottom portion. The top portion includes plate-like structure having first and second surfaces extending downward from the top wall. The intermediate portion includes a shelf structure having a shelf surface that extends from the first surface in a direction away from the interior, and a third surface extending downward from the shelf surface. The bottom portion extends downward from the intermediate portion. The leads are molded at least in part of the intermediate portion. Each lead has a first end portion exposed in the interior, and a second end portion extending along a bottom edge of the bottom portion.

An electronic device comprising a package comprising an encapsulated electronic chip, at least one at least partially exposed electrically conductive carrier lead for mounting the package on and electrically connecting the electronic chip to a carrier, and at least one at least partially exposed electrically conductive connection lead, and an electronic member stacked with the package so as to be mounted on and electrically connected to the package by the at least one connection lead.

In an embodiment of the present disclosure, a wiring base includes an insulative base, a signal conductor, a first lead terminal, a first ground conductor, and a second lead terminal. The insulative base includes a first face and a second face. The signal conductor is provided on the first face. The first lead terminal is provided on the signal conductor. The first lead terminal extends in a first direction and includes a portion projecting from the insulative base in plan view toward the first face. The first ground conductor is provided on the second face. The second lead terminal is provided on the first ground conductor. At least a part of the second lead terminal overlaps the first lead terminal in the plan view toward the first face.
