Locking apparatus for a rollup door or other movable object

A locking apparatus for a rollup door, comprising a striker member, latch assembly including a latch, a release lever, a trigger, a cam and a solenoid. The latch assembly may also include a limit switch for detecting when the latch assembly is in an unlocked position. The locking apparatus can be electronically unlocked or it can be unlocked manually by a user by actuating the solenoid which causes the latch to release the locked striker member.

Symmetric coherent optical mixer

Aspects of a symmetric coherent optical mixer are described. In one example, the coherent optical mixer includes a group of symmetric MMI couplers and a group of symmetric bend waveguides optically coupled between the MMI couplers. The group of symmetric MMI couplers can include an input for a local light reference signal, an input for a modulated light signal, and outputs for detection of data from the modulated light signal. The group of symmetric MMI couplers can include four MMI couplers, each of which comprises a 22 MMI coupler of symmetric dimension. The group of symmetric bend waveguides can include a symmetric layout of four 90 bend waveguides optically coupled between the four MMI couplers. The coherent optical mixer, which can be implemented as a Silicon Photonics (SiPh) device, provides better performance as a 90 degree optical hybrid than prior mixer devices due to its symmetric layout.

Closure and latching mechanisms

A closing and latching mechanism for a closure in which further rotation of an input shaft in a latching direction results in engagement of a release cam with a release cam follower and movement of a release slider which moves a pawl into a position in which a claw is free to move from a latched position to an unlatched position and the claw then moves towards the unlatched position under the action of a biasing spring.

Double ratchet, double pawl vehicular latch with soft stop on reset

A low release effort eccentric double ratchet, double pawl vehicle latch includes a ratchet, a primary pawl, an auxiliary ratchet and a secondary pawl. A drive mechanism including a gear cam wheel sequences movement of the secondary pawl to open and reset the latch. Upon reset, the drive mechanism actuates the auxiliary ratchet back to a closed state in a soft manner without using a hard stop; instead the latch has a cushioning spring that is used to softly stop the gear train during the reset absorbing motor energy and thus eliminating impact noise.

Reinforced motor vehicle lock

The invention relates to a motor vehicle lock, comprising a lock housing, a lock case, a locking mechanism and an operating device, wherein at least one component of the operating device extends through an opening in the lock housing and said opening is designed with at least one reinforcing insert. The main area of the plate or the metal sheet from which the lock case is made is basically relatively large. In light of this, it has proved advantageous to form the reinforcing insert from the lock case. Waste is thus avoided.

Latching box with an unlocking actuator having a cylindrical cam

The invention relates to a latching box for selectively retaining a movable element such as an undercarriage or a hatch in position, the box comprising a body carrying: a hook pivotally mounted about a first pivot axis between an engaged position and a disengaged position relative to the movable element; a locking member pivotally mounted about a second pivot axis parallel to the first pivot axis to pivot between a position for blocking the hook in the engagement position and a release position for releasing the hook; and at least one cam actuator in which the cam co-operates operationally with the locking member to move it towards the release position. The cam of the actuator is a cylindrical cam mounted to rotate about an axis of rotation orthogonal to the first and second pivot axes.
